Corporate social responsibility has become a topic of concern for many businesses. Businesses are striving to meet sales and profit goals, yet at the same time have a positive impact on society. The reason for this is that customers, investors, employees, government agencies, and communities are all influenced by business, yet they all have the ability to influence and impact businesses as well. A company’s reputation is at stake when it comes to being socially responsible, and many companies have developed a plan that ensures they are being socially responsible while still meeting their sales/profit goals. This paper will evaluate Company Q’s current policies and attitude and make recommendations to improve them towards social responsibility and in turn increase their bottom line.…
Good company citizenship goes beyond simply meeting the letter of the law. A socially responsible company should be aware of the effects its decision-making has on the community around it. This is illustrated in part “A” of the unanimously adopted policies of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Virtual Conference, the Regional Expert Group Meeting on Integrated Environmental Considerations into Economic Policy Making Processes, Bangkok, 20-24 July 1998.…

It is no mystery that companies exist and desire to make a profit from their product or service being offered. However, it is becoming increasing popular that companies desire to achieve social responsibility in order to increase their public image, which in turn should lead to increased profits. In this class, we learned that social responsibility is the duty to take an action that will benefit the interests of society and the organization (Kinicki & Williams 2011). One of the ways to become more socially responsible that is adopted by many companies is through green management, which is referred to using various policies to reduce environmental problems (Tim Barnett, n.d.). More and more companies are becoming concerned about the impact their organization is having on the natural environment.…
Excess demand can cause many potential conflicts regarding water; most of the negative outcome will reflect on the environment. If a scheme for any water system will not be efficient and clean, the environment will be affected. A good example of a clean and efficient scheme was used in Kosciuszko National Park were they have used a hydro-electric source of renewable energy. However, it still had some effect on the environment. Therefore, the environmentalist and the eco-friendly community may cause conflicts that the Park is damaging the environment. Also the water is used for attractions like swimming and canoeing, which may cause conflict between people associated with the hydro-electric scheme and tourists.…

Our work has primarily focused on relevant Sydney Water documentation and interviews with individuals mainly within Sydney Water. It has been d one with the benefit of hindsight. Some individuals and parties external to Sydney Water, including PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the previous Managing Director of Sydney Water, Mr Alex Walker, were also interviewed. The focus on Sydney Water should not carry any adverse inference about Sydney Water’s legal relationship with PwC. At the time of the request for the review, Sydney Water was seeking legal advice on the project’s contractual arrangements and was considering its legal options in relation to the contract. Sydney Water is considering litigation at the time of tabling this report. Usually when the Auditor-General is aware that an agency may be involved with litigation, we would not report in such detail that it could unduly influence the outcome of the litigation. Detailed reporting may occur once the litigation has been settled. However, the Auditor-General has reviewed and reported before any possible litigation. Potential litigation…
