Biblical Support for Capital Punishment
In the Bible there are many verses that support using the death penalty. One of the core verses to see the support of capital punishment in the Bible is Exodus 21:23-25. This verse states one of the most iconic revenge phrases: “an eye for an eye.” Also, earlier in the passage it states says “whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death.”(ESV) There is a common Biblical principle that is accepted in society. That principle is that you will reap what you sew. You will have consequences for whatever you do, wether that be if you speed, you will get ticketed. The Bible supports capital punishment by the simple principle that there are consequences to our actions.

But it is clear to see that some parts of their arguments, just do not make sense. I am not saying that there are not racists and evil people in the world. But, not all people who support capital punishment target someone just to eliminate them because of the color of their skin or how much money they have in their bank account. Through the use of capital punishment, society will become more accountable for the decisions they choose to make. "A series of academic studies over the last half-dozen years that claim to settle the argument of wether or not capital punishment is a murder deterrent. The answer is yes. The study shows that there would be between 3 to 18 lives that would be saved by the execution of each convicted killer. " (Washington Post, 2007, Capital Punishment is a Murder Deterrent) If we could save 3 to 18 lives by the execution of each convicted killer, then it makes society a safer place. Most lethal injections take approximately seven minutes to execute the victim. Only 7.12% of the 1054 for lethal injections has been botched. (2014, Radlete, M.) for the most part, capital punishment or not botched. Out of the 8776 total executions approximately 3.15% of these executions were botched in total. (2014, Radlete, M.) Lethal injection is the most humane way to execute someone, it is not a cruel and usual punishment because it kills the victim so quickly.
