The Question of Origin:
The Islamic worldview believes that there is only one God. It is considered offensive to believe in more than one God, “To associate a partner with God is to commit the sin of ishrak or blasphemy” (Halverson 2). Similarly, the Biblical worldview also believes in one personal God. In his novel Man & Islam Dr. Ali Shari’ati describes Allah’s creation of man, “Accordingly, in creating man, God did not use His ‘breath,’ ‘blood,’ or ‘flesh’; rather He blew His own soul into man” (4). Similarly to Islam, the Biblical worldview also follows the belief that man is created separately from animals. One difference between Islam and Christianity is that God created man as a reflection of Himself, “And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Gen. 1.27).
