I: Welcome to the “This is Your Life, Biff Loman!” TV show, we are interviewing Bill Loman from “A Death of a Salesman” about the occurrences in his life and his realisation of many pivotal events which caused his revelations. (Audience clapping)
I: In the originally we see that Biff eventually succumbs to his father’s tactics – with fateful consequences, however the discovery that Willy has a mistress strips him of his faith in Willy and loses his ambition to study and succeed. Biff how do u feel about your past?
B: The past brings back many joyful yet many memories which caused the deterioration of my family and their situation. I’ve realised that without the past I couldn’t have been the person I’ve become currently. Subsequent to the death of my father, Willy Loman I was determined to break through the lies surrounding the Loman family in order to come to realistic terms with my own life. Ever since my adulthood I longed to understand myself even if that understanding is …show more content…
neither flattering nor accurate and also by my father is blind faith in a skewed, materialist version of the American dream. Since the conclusion of “Death of a salesman” I have been offered many different employment opportunities and found a stable job which I have been currently employed for approximately 20 years which enabled me to provide a home and future for my family.
I: Thank you Biff Lowan for your contribution, and yes we can absolutely see the transformation of your previous life in contrast to your current established life. The audience realises that Biff had flaws since his childhood reflected by the scene where he steals the football. Couch, how do u feel about this incident and after hearing about his relationship with his father in the past?
C: A father’s greatest moments that he treasures is when his children are still young and still having high hopes for their children. Biff’s theft of the football highlights the corruption placed by his father which increased the idea of popularity is more important then hard work. When I told Biff that he should practise didn’t mean I was offering him to steal the ball but it seemed that in the mind he changed the story and altered the lies to make him seem innocent. Biff is a representation of his father’s detrimental traits which lead him to lose his dignity and hope in the American dream.
I: Oh, amazing as the responders can see that Biff’s flaws developed during his childhood due to the influence of his father. Thank you for your contribution. (Clapping) Next up we have Bernard, Biff’s childhood friend who has became a successful lawyer please put your hands together to welcome him. (Clapping) From the published play we have seen that you kept trying to encouraging and motivating Biff to thrive in his studies, how do u feel about his current lifestyle in contrast to the past?
Be: The quote “It’s not how smart you are but how hard you work” reflects American dream, Willy reinforced to Biff that popularity was everything, however Charley and I proved that popularity isn’t the basis for success and Willy ridiculed both of us.
Biff was smart and had a lot of potential which wasn’t seen by Willy, he was capable of fulfilling the American dream conversely there were numerous barriers which stood in the way. After he failed his maths test he decided to visit Charley in Boston and this is when it could be recognised that he lost all aspiration to establish a better life. Since the death of Willy Loman it has been thrilling to hear that Biff has been able to alter his path in life along with his self realisation that American dream with not favour those who have the aim of getting rich however it needs the ambition and motivation to achieve this goals by taking
risks.
I: (claps) That was inspiring for the audience and I to hear about your opinions on Biff’s improvements of both his personality and lifestyle. Finally Claudia (W) you were one of Willy Lowman’s mistresses, were you not? Biff saw both of you in a hotel room together being intermit which cause the deterioration of the relationship between Willy and Biff Loman.
W: Yes, I was for a short period of time, our relationship was quite simple. Willy Loman never discussed about his family when were together so I never questioned his motives however I knew that I was one of a few mistresses. Willy was always in a slanted reality that his desperate mind had to fail to recognise which allowed him to create his own living prison. In my opinion Willy failed to acknowledge the anguished love offered to him by his family, I admire Biff’s courage and ability to change his lifestyle as he confronted his past becoming the person he is today.
I: Astounding, Thank you for your contribution and the other guests for coming to the show. An additional recognition to Willy Loman as he died in 1949, rest in peace. It was a pleasure to meet you all and hope to see you back for “Willy Loman, Tragic hero or not?” next week. See you soon (waves)
