Both pieces of music have similiarities but they also both have big differneces. One of the major and biggest differences between Big Mama Thornton and the Presley version is that Big Mama Thornton foregrounds the lyrics in her track while carefully enunciating and phrasing the words so that the listener can clearly hear the words.. Presley, on the other hand, simply makes the lyric a melodic line - he is happy to add vocal effects and whoops which add nothing to the story. Big Mama is also meticulous in delivering the risqué overtone of 'you may wag your tail' - whereas Presley carefully removes the sexual reference, replacing it with the frankly meaningless 'you ain't never caught a rabbit' which doesn’t make the lines worth them anymore.
