Big Social Media Element: Facebook
Facebook is one of the fastest growing social networks on the Internet. Nowadays, millions of people use Facebook and they spend their time on Facebook.Do you know the history of Facebook? Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg who studied in Harward University on 4th of February in 2004. Six years later, the site became one of the biggest web sites in the world, visited by 400 million people a month.He was only 19 years old when he founded this social network.This wasn’t the first site of Zuckerberg because his first website was called ‘facemash’ ,and it had information and pictures about Harvard University’s students.However,facemash was closed by the university because he used the information and pictures without permission.After that, Zuckerberg took a break and started to work on his new project.He provided users with facilities such as adding their friends,uploading their photos, and communicating with their friends, and he named this website ‘thefacebook’. Facebook came from “paper facebook”. The universities in the USA have such a form that students and teachers fill to introduce themselves.
At first,only Harvard University’s students could use thefacebook, but after a short time it spreaded almost all high schools, universities and companies in Boston. After that,it spreaded quickly to other places, too. Finally,in 2006,facebook opened for all the people who have email addresses.
According to some researches in 2009,Facebook is one of the most clicked websites.%60 of its users are usually online on Facebook everyday and according to the Facebook official Chris Hughes;people spend their time avarage 19 minutes on Facebook.
Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.
Now,I want to talk about Facebook’s advantages and disadvantages.
