Back in the summer of 2013 my family was deciding on what vacation we should go on. It took us until July to finally decide where we wanted to go and we chose San Diego. At the time I didn’t know where San Diego was and frankly I thought we were going to Florida. When we got in the car and started to drive I was very confused on the fact we were not going to an airport. On the eight hour car ride there it took my family around an hour and a half to explain that we were not going to Florida.…
The soldiers pushed us into a small car, when I asked momma where we were going one of the soldiers turned around and yelled at me and told me to be quiet or else. I was terrified; I started to cry momma held me and told me all would be okay. When we arrived at the train station they spilt us up papa was sent to one train and me and momma were sent to another. I begged him to come back; one of the soldiers turned and hit me. Momma stepped in front of me and they told her to take me on the train before they did worse, we did as they were told. That was the last time I ever saw my papa, when the train stopped momma said that we were in Auschwitz.…
McTeer stated, “Foreign trade has become more important to our economy in recent years. Exports and imports of goods and services have grown rapidly. G.D.P., as I’ve discussed here before, is the way economists calculate how much an economy is producing in total goods and services.” ( McTeer, 2008)…
Tell me about a time where you went above and beyond what was expected of you?…
A couple years ago on Christmas morning, my brother and I were opening our presents when we were given passports but we didn’t know what they were at this time. Our parents told us that we were going on a mission trip to Mexico. Even though we begged to not have to go and refused our parents made us both go.…
To get to the Getty Villa you must drive on a pathway that felt very rough in my car. I was not sure if she would make it up because she is fifteen years old now, but luckily we made it. When we first arrived we saw a man sprinting for a baby carriage that war rolling down the slope in the garage. This moment made us realize that…
Abelard rushed in with a wooden bat, with the most frightened look on his face. He told us to get in the corner behind a small closet door, but by the time my little sister had made it, it was too late. The dreaded German soldiers had already barged into the room. They grabbed Abelard, and he had a look of defeat on his face. They shot both my mother and father. I fell, my heart feeling like an elephant was on top of it. One of the soldiers came and hit me with his gun. I remember seeing Abelard jump out of the soldiers grip trying to block them from shooting my little sister, so they shot him.…
When we got into the house I went to pet the dogs. All of a sudden Mom rushed in yelling for Uncle John. I had absolutely no clue what is going on. Then, Uncle John came in the house walking backwards. Come to find out in his hands were holding Papa’s hands, and his feet where in the hands of Mom. They laid him on the floor.…

My story begins at just the age of 8, we just had moved to a South Texas town, Kountze, this town had about 2,000 to 3,000 people residing in it. My parents had decided this was the perfect place to raise me and my brother who is two years older than me. I didn’t understand much then, but from what I can remember the only problems I had was what flavor of ice cream I wanted when my father took me to the ice cream shop and which Disney channel show was on. But then, as I thought things were just fine, On one summer night I heard noises in my parents’ bedroom and I overheard my favorite hero crying in the bedroom and saying he needed to tell us something terrible had happened. As he sat me down on his lap and told me that grandfather had passed away. My grandfather had been diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after he came from India to America too visit us. My father had to take him back to India when they found out he diagnosed. I sat there not understanding what had happened and hearing my hero in tears for the first time. It was one of first of many forms of tragedy I have had to witness as I thought nothing could shake my father but at this moment I realized I was wrong and got scared, this moment had changed my whole…
They were so happy for me, they told me to go clean up, so I did. While I was combing my hair in the mirrior, I was thinking, what about if her family doesn’t like me, especially her father, which is Charles Dickens. It's 6:00, and I comb my hair one last time, and tell my parents i’m leaving. On the way to her house, I tell myself that everything is going to be fine, and I start singing my favorite song again. I finally reach her door step, and ring the doorbell. She answers the door, and she looks as beautiful as ever. She tells me to come in, and before we ate we talked for a bit. I told her a little bit about me, like how I have been a chimney sweep since I was five years old. I tell her this is my last year as a chimney sweep, because i’m getting to old. Then she tells me about herself, like how she has nine sibling, but one of them died when she was only one year old. We finished up talking, and went to the dinner table to…
The time something unexpected happened to me was last deer season; it just happened out of nowhere. It was the scaires thing that ever happen to me in the woods. This unexpected event happen to a couple of people I know.…
I don’t remember much about how my family died, I was just a three year old boy; Keenan Waren. All I can remember is it was Thanksgiving day with my whole family. I know it was this day because the smell of the turkey was burnt into my memory, and it’s also what the people at the orphanage told me as I was growing up. Something else I can recall is seeing a tall, bulky shadow holding a green flame in his hand after the lights shut off. Everyone was screaming, but I am still unsure of what was happening to them. My mom carried me out into the rainy night in front of the house in my carseat, and I was crying for the teddy bear my aunt gave me for my first birthday. I kept crying, so my mom covered me with blanket and ran back inside to grab it…
When my brother and I had wakened up five nights ago, we got a pleasant surprise. We would be headed to Cancun, Mexico. This was the first time I have been on vacation near the Gulf, and it amazed me how beautiful it was, and how we got there in the first place. My mom wasn’t the one to do surprises, but when she did, it was a great one.…
It was a nice day out this one summer afternoon, so my parents invited my family over for a barbeque at our house. I come from a big Mexican family, so it was a good thing we had a really big backyard. I am the youngest grandchild out of eighteen, the oldest was forty-one and I the youngest was seven at the time. The closest cousin to me in age at the time was eleven and I always tired to hangout with my older cousins. On this summer afternoon my cousins and I decided to build an obstacle course thought out my house to see who could run it the fastest. We made it start from my front yard and it weaved through the living room, my sister’s room, my parent’s room, then out the back door where it ended. My parents are the…
