Big Ten Basketball Team
So far in the Big Ten, we’ve seen the deepest group of teams in recent memory.
No team is safe when playing a conference game.
With three weeks in the books, every team in the conference has a loss, and only Rutgers is winless. Even the Scarlet Knights have been competitive in spots, hanging close with Northwestern and almost knocking off Iowa at home.
What makes everything more interesting, is that there really aren’t any runaway favorites to win the title. Fans can expect a great race down the stretch and an even better conference tournament.
As usual, Wednesday’s schedule brings a plethora of really good Big Ten basketball. In my eyes, there’s no better way to spend a week night then binging on Big Ten hoops, complete with some new BTPowerhouse

Their conference record doesn’t do this team any justice, in truth, they belong in the top half of the Big Ten.
Following their triumph over the Spartans, it seems like the perfect time for Ohio State to make a run. With so much parody in the Big Ten, the Buckeyes could win their next four and no one would bat an eye.
Although, the Cornhuskers have a truly superb backcourt with Glynn Watson Jr. and Tai Webster, they recently lost their best big-man to injury. Sophomore Ed Morrow was ruled out indefinitely last week after hurting his right foot.
The injury didn’t slow them down much against Michigan, as they hung close in a 91-85 loss. However, facing Ohio State will be a much tougher challenge in the frontcourt.
Ohio State has two talented centers, in junior Trevor Thompson and freshman Micah Potter. Thompson is an absolute stud and Potter is improving each game he plays, the pair could have a huge impact against the depleted Husker frontline.
Look for Ohio State to get their 6-10 ATS record closer to .500 in this one.
According to KenPom, Ohio State ranks a respectable No. 56, while Nebraska is slightly behind at No.

Five games in, the Nittany Lions have already knocked off Michigan State and upstart Minnesota. It’s plain to see that their group of talented freshman are getting more comfortable with Division 1 basketball.
Although, they won’t reach the NCAA Tournament this year, the Nittany Lions are well on the way to college basketball relevancy.
Playing against Indiana will be a tough task for Penn State, as the Hoosiers are more experienced and itching to prove

“I don’t know if I’ve ever been a part of something like that,” Mountaineers' head coach Randy Mazey said. “They were throwing pitchers that haven’t pitched much for them and our at-bats were just awful today. If you were to talk to Kansas’ coaches, and say ‘what do you have on the Mountaineers?’ They’d say ‘that’s a good hitting team, those guys can really hit.’ You talk to Canisius’ coaches about the Mountaineers, and they’d say the exact opposite. Now we just have to go figure it out.”…

Like O’Regan, UMass Lowell forward C.J. Smith has been an emotional leader this year for the River Hawks. You’ll find his name on the scoresheet just as often, too, as Smith leads the team in points with 14 goals and 19 assists. He plays a chippy game, and isn’t afraid to crash the net or dig in the corners to pay the price necessary to make a play. His calling card is an effective forechecking game, one based on aggression and a structured system under Head Coach Norm Bazin. Smith didn’t register a point in the regular season against Boston University, but when he scores a goal this year, UMass Lowell is…

Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners were on life support. After a disappointing 8-5 season, capped off with an embarrassing loss to Clemson, Bob Stoops was starting to feel the heat. So Stoops went out and made the best move of his career. He hired Lincoln Riley from ECU, and he gave the keys to his new offense to Baker Mayfield, the former walk on from Texas Tech. Many felt this would be a long recovery, but instead it was more like a shot of adrenaline. Oklahoma became the best team in the country, and now they are going to prove it in the playoff.…

The SEC holds the highest paid coach, which I am sure any of y’all can guess, Nick Saban of Alabama, whom actually holds over a 70% win record. These all are huge factors but none of them are as effective as the passion of the SEC…
