Essay 3 The strive to accomplish and achieve is within us all. You must be certain that you can do anything. Though it may not be reached in a short period of time for this develops and organizes your work ethic. As said by American educator, journalist and Professor William Phelps “[…] sense of certainty […] can get yourself to accomplish virtually anything.” This inclusive statement depicts how I feel when it comes to life. In my personal experience of being certain to the role models I have observed who followed their dreams no matter the doubts brought about. Among the many people few listen to the voice of certainty. I enjoy the confidence that comes about from the ambitions others have, especially the ones within me. Confidence and certainty are similar in multiple ways. You must be confident to be certain and certain to be confident. A great example in my opinion would be Bill Gates. Of course being the wealthiest man in the world is a great benefit, but the adversity he faced was enormous. A person such as him had to be certain that what he wanted to do would be tremendously successful. He was certain enough that he dropped out of Harvard University. He was certain enough that he took his life savings as well as his parents’ life savings to chase a dream that he thought would certainly be achieved. Having doubt within yourself solely leads to being held back. You must aim for the stars to reach your goals in life. Your plan may fail but at the end of the day with that strong sense of certainty you have win or lose a life lesson of perseverance will come from it. In my life, I was always told by mother to follow the definition of faith strongly. I looked up the definition of faith when I was able to read on my own and it said “Faith-an unquestioning belief.” This simple phrase has and will forever be with me. My biggest goal at reach right now is to get into Boston University. It

Having certainty in yourself is the only way to have the confidence and drive to reach your goals. You cannot be confident if you are not certain in what you believe in or what you are capable of achieving. This is true for most athletes or dancers. My dance coach always says that you have to go out on the floor with confidence, when you are confident you seem certain in what you are doing even if you do it wrong. This certainty and confidence can lead to personal success or a team’s success. It shows that the most powerful way to have confidence is to trust your capabilities and that you know what you are doing.…

The argument between certainty and doubt is highly controversial. Despite the side that people have accustomed themselves to, there are still pros and cons to both. A person’s doubt can easily distract them from reaching their full potential, while it can also aide in making a more realistic and achievable decision because with doubt they are able to question their abilities and eliminate the options that aren’t as feasible. Whereas certainty can misguide someone into the delusion of great powers, it can also assist them in attaining a massive success because they are giving themselves the option of fathoming an idea so great that initiates a surge of passion that tells them they can achieve such greatness. Despite the seemingly equivalent pros and cons between doubt and certainty, certainty is definitely the best mindset to have when trying to find triumph in one’s life.…

Growing up I have always been a good student in school. I always kept good grades and never liked to be absent. I believe I’ve received these traits from my parents, they were always telling me to learn a lot so I can get a good job and make a lot of money. One thing I didn’t know at the time was that I was always learning even while not in school and the things I learned then was just as important as the in-school lessons. Helping me become the person I am now, self-confidence is my most important non-school based education, because without it I would fall apart from being constantly judged and criticized, be uncomfortable meeting new people, and have trouble overcoming the many challenges that are thrown my way. I’ve realized that almost every situation I encounter the key to being successful is relying on self-confidence.…

I am a goal oriented person, thus when I want to achieve something, I will give my best to make it happen. Even if I might not fulfil my goals, I would take pride in knowing that I have given my best efforts to realize it. Perhaps an illustration of such determination is in my choice to take up an account subject for my SPM, despite being a pure science student. I took up accounts as an extra subject because I am interested in the accounting field and managed to score A+ in the subject even though I only had class once a week.…
