Bill gates descended from a long line of entrepreneurs and lively, high spirited people. William Henry gates II, his father, is philanthropist, an author, and a retired American attorney. His mother, Mary gates, was chairwoman of united way international, University of Washington regent, and a school teacher. William Henry gates III, born in Seattle, Washington, is an inventor, programmer, investor, and philanthropist, but more importantly he was a brilliant businessman, a survivor of difficult challenges, and an incredibly charitable person (Bellis).
Can you imagine life without Bill gates? His works changed the world so much that if he had never been born, the lives we would have lead wouldn’t even be comparable to what have now. There would be no Microsoft office, Internet explorer, Windows, or Xbox. All of these great products were created by Microsoft. Microsoft is a multinational corporation that sells, supports, licenses, manufactures, and develops personal computers, consumer electronics, and computer software. It has its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, and is one of the world’s largest companies. Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft on April 4, 1975. Under Bill Gates supervision it dominated the personal computer operating system market in the1980s by creating the Microsoft windows and MS-DOS. In its initial public offering in 1986, it made 3 billionaires and over 11,000 millionaires from its employees. Since then it has expanded from the operating system market and has made a number of other corporate assets, the largest of which was Skype Technologies, which it bought for $8.5 billion (Bellis).
As successful as Bill Gates and company is, he has faced his fair share challenges. One of these challenges was that his private school didn’t have computers because they were too expensive at the time. To solve this he started a fund raiser.
