age of 20, Gates and his fellow colleague Paul Allen founded the software company, Microsoft. An article by Doug Cross, analyzes the impact Gates has on the technological industry as he has advanced in his career, “In Microsoft's early years, he wrote every line of code for the company's software while managing its business side”(Cross). Bill’s hunger for success and self-satisfaction fed his motivation to grind tirelessly while juggling various responsibilities at his budding start-up. He poured his heart and soul into everything he did and it granted him credibility and respect within the community. This quote proves that Bill Gates is indeed heroic because he built a software empire from the ground up through sheer willpower and dedication to be able to venture into the unknown and come out triumphant.
Furthermore, Gates is a persistent seeker of innovation and personal growth.
Before Windows 95, the majority of the public pirated software, only 10% actually paid for it. A biographical piece done on Bill highlights key details on various stages throughout his life, “In February 1976, Gates wrote an open letter to computer hobbyists, saying that continued distribution and use of software without paying for it would ‘prevent good software from being written.’ The letter was unpopular with computer enthusiasts, but Gates stuck to his beliefs and would use the threat of innovation as a defense when faced with charges of unfair business practices”(biography.com). Basically, the quote is saying that Bill was not content with the stagnation of software development which helped him grow his company and most importantly himself. Bill Gates was never one to hold back the truth and fear criticism because he would exhaust every possibility before throwing in the towel, unlike many of his associates at the time. Gates’s dedication to his work modernized software development and paved the way for software companies today. Windows 95 was ahead of its time in graphic design as well as all the hardware aspects. Nevertheless, critics of Bill Gates will probably argue that he is not a hero because determination alone is not a heroic trait; everyone has it but for some it is never revealed. On on hand, it is right to say that determination alone is not a heroic trait. On the other hand, it is still true that the worked accomplished due to persistence is insignificant. Desire only gets you so far and self-discipline must be learned to actually obtain what you set out for in the first
place.

The foundation, has distributed billions of dollars in grants to improve health and living conditions in developing countries”(Max). Max reports that the foundation has partnered with CureVac to advance towards his goal to make vaccines accessible to all and to limit preventable deaths. Bill Gates’s ambition towards the causes he is passionate about brings attention to those who need it most. First of all, Gates reinforces the importance of vaccines and its effects on children who are unable to afford them, to the media. According to a magazine article, “With Vaccines, Bill Gates Changes The World Again”, Bill emphasizes how a twenty three cents vaccine can transform a life and drastically decrease those who are infected with measles every year. Also the article touches on one of his many goals within the next 25 years which is decreasing death tolls by at least 80%(Herper).Gates adopts an informative tone to convey to the readers that pocket change for the average person can make a monumental difference in another portion of the world. Also, Herper’s point is that Bill takes the responsibility of decreasing premature deaths into his seemingly infinite hands, to address these issues head-on. Bill Gates’s ambition allows for daunting tasks to be accessed and resolved with research, development, and effort. Additionally, Gates’s has a plan to eventually eradicate four diseases within the next 15 years: polio, malaria, guinea worm, etc. In this same Forbes magazine article it describes his journey in the healthcare industry: “America’s richest man—he’d be the world’s richest had he not already given away so much money—still in his prime (he just turned 56), with the reputation, resources and determination to stamp out infectious disease.”(Herper). Bill has put his head towards a long-term project to eradicate at least four diseases, which seems like an impossible task considering it has only been successful once for smallpox. This proves that Bill Gates is an ambitious person because he is embarking on a journey to complete a task that has only been done once since the beginning of time, in a matter of two decades. Gates’s desire for success has and will carry on to do amazing things and touch many hearts along the way.
