The fact that you are in college is evidence that you are intelligent, so don 't worry about that part.
Attitude
You do not learn by simply attending class, although this is a necessary starting point. A great deal of time is expected of you outside of class: two hours of class preparation time for every hour in class. Since you spend 6 hours a week in class (lecture and lab), you need to allow for another 12 hours a week for study. Learning is a process that requires your critical listening, critical thinking, and active involvement. You will need to continually integrate the information you receive in lecture, lab, discussion, reading and writing into a holistic "big picture" view of animal biology. Your instructors are here to help you, but ultimately the responsibility for learning is yours.
