Franklin D. Roosevelt Did you know that Franklin D. Roosevelt married his fifth cousin Eleanor Roosevelt? Franklin D. Roosevelt was born in 1882 on January 30 at Hyde Park, New York. He was an only child and his parents were James and Sara Ann Roosevelt. He lived in Springwood, New York and was educated by tutors until he was fourteen. Then later on in 1896 he went to Groton School for boys. Then later on in 1900 he graduated from Groton and then went to Harvard. He later on got his degree in three years. Married Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1905. (bio.com) He won the election to be New York Senate in 1910 then later on he became the Democratic nominee for vice president in 1920. But then in the summer of 1921 when he was 39 he got poliomyelitis.

    Although many people at the time disagreed with the actions of Teddy Roosevelt, he played a very important role in the Spanish-American war by not only preparing the navy, but on the front lines of combat as well. Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States of America, had a huge impact on the Spanish-American war in many ways.
