Term Paper
Jeffrey Dahmer Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 21, 1960. Dahmer made his first kill at age eighteen. Notorious sex offender and serial killer, Dahmer went on to kill and molest a total of seventeen men between 1978 and 1991. Upon arrest in 1992, Jeffrey Dahmer was sentenced to fifteen consecutive life sentences. He was then murdered by a fellow prisoner in November 1994. A surgery at the age of six, the birth of a younger brother, and a family relocation in his teens, resulted in Jeffrey Dahmer being “disengaged, tense and largely friendless.” Dahmer, himself, claims that his attraction to necrophilia and murder began at the age of fourteen when his parents started talking about divorce; Jeffrey began collecting road kill and saving the bones.
Just after his high school graduation in 1978, Dahmer picked up a hitchhiker, Steven Hicks, and brought him back to his parents’ house. There, they drank copious amounts of beer and had sexual intercourse. When Hicks tried to leave, Dahmer killed him with a single “blow to the head with a barbell.” Dahmer then dismembered the body of Hicks, placed the parts in a plastic bag and buried them in the woods behind the house. At about the same time as his first murder, Dahmer began drinking heavily. In 1979, after only one term at Ohio State University, he dropped out due to his alcoholism. His newly remarried father insisted that Dahmer enlist in the Army and he was soon posted in Germany. Jeffrey’s father assumed that the strict regulations of the army would ‘cure’ his son’s alcohol problem, but not even two years later the Army discharged him. Upon his return home, Dahmer unearthed Hicks’ remains and pulverized them with a hammer, then scattered them even more widely. Jeffrey Dahmer spent the next six years living with his grandmother in West Allis, Wisconsin. In August 1982 he was arrested for exposing himself in public and then again in September 1986 for public
