may believe that that behave is acceptable. Also siblings contribute greatly to children's level aggression because most children lookup to their older siblings and imitate their behaviors. In addition television and our society can influence children's levels of aggression if they portray forms of aggression. Since children are still growing; they’re constantly picking up on social and cultural values faster. As for emotional & cognitive contributions deals with children's feelings and views on different situations. Depending on how children interprets a particular situation affects how they’ll react emotionally to such. Children that become aggressive tend to misconstrue the intentions of other people in a negative way because of centration. This concept is important to Child Development because it helps caregivers understand how these aggressive tendencies occurred, and how to prevent themselves from illustrating certain forms of aggression in front of children. One Thursday afternoon at my service learning site, I remember all the children running in excited to get started.
As a volunteer we have to help set up and pass out snacks. One boy named Jose, always comes in bullying and cursing at the other kids. He continues to do it despite however many times we ask him to stop. After all the children left, Mrs. Lopiccolo told a few of the mentors that Jose comes from a one parent household. His father use to talk badly about women and sometimes hurt them in front of him. So when he came to the Collaborative Community Program a few years back, he use to say he wanted to kill or brutally beat women. Since Jose has only been surrounded by anger and violence it’s probably all he knows. Therefore, as a mentor I tried to redirect his views and anger towards a more positive outlet within our 2 hour time period together. Understanding where he came from helped me to stop judging. This then made me want to help his development as much as I could by spreading positive messages to him about all walks of life. I believe that anyone can change for the
better.
