The family chose is Gil, Karen, and their children Kevin, Taylor, and Justin they are a pretty normal down to earth family, with minor issues. The main issue is Gil and his neuroticism; he seems to have obsessive compulsive disorder, because what is happening is that it is affecting their oldest child Kevin the most, the other two are affected but not to the extent that Kevin is being affected. Karen is the more go with the flow parent; she is more laid back and takes one day at a time with her children. She and Gil see their son Kevin is having issues and want to help him but they do not know how to. Gil tries really hard to help Kevin but each try is unsuccessful. They do function pretty well as a family; they look to be a pretty normal family. Karen is the normal homemaker, Gil is the normal father who tries to do everything for his family, and each of the kids is functional at home, you can see how Kevin reacts in certain situations, the other two seem to be pretty well adjusted or oblivious to Kevin’s issues and treat him as siblings should.…

Genes are molecular units of heredity which encode for different types of traits. Each organism has traits that are defined phenotypically and can be studied though the field of genetics. Genetics is the study of genes, heredity, and how they cause variation in different living organisms. Scientists study genetic pattern in different organisms to determine the different trends in a certain population.…

Atoms contain large amounts of energy with the ability to be released in two ways. One of these ways is to join Nuclei together in a process called nuclear fusion and another way is to split atomic nuclei in a process called nuclear fission. Though there are many arguments in favour and against both, nuclear fission currently holds the upper hand as a nuclear fusion reactor is yet to be formed.…

Nuclear energy is the energy found in the nucleus of an atom, which holds excessive amounts of power within the bonds that hold atoms together. Nuclear energy can be released from the nucleus of the atom through two different ways – ‘nuclear fusion’ or ‘nuclear fission’.…

Nuclear energy uses nuclear fission to generate heat. Nuclear fission is where atoms are split apart which releases energy. All nuclear power plants use nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is where a neutron hits a uranium atom and splits it releasing a large amount of energy. More neutrons are released when a uranium atom splits hitting more uranium atoms. This is called a nuclear chain reaction.…

A Raisin in the Sun is a play written by Lorraine Hansberry in 1959. This play is about a lower class African American family dealing with their living conditions on the Southside of Chicago. The title of the play was inspired by the poem A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes. Hughes’ poem describes the differing paths people take in life. This idea is displayed throughout the play as every character has different aspirations in life and will do whatever they can to accomplish their goals. For this presentation, the group will perform Act II, Scene III. This is a powerful scene that displays a new opportunity of change for families, and racial discrimination. It was an excellent idea for Hansberry to incorporate this idea not only in this scene, but also throughout the entire play, given the fact that it was written in the middle 1900s. Racial discrimination was very common during this…

I know many people, if they could get almost infinite energy for almost nothing, they would probably do it. But Nuclear Fusion, unlike its cousin, Nuclear Fission, is quite difficult to achieve. Nuclear fission is the process of splitting large atoms, usually Uranium 235, to produce massive amounts of energy. The process enacted within all nuclear power plants is Nuclear Fission. Nuclear Fusion, on the other hand, is the exact opposite; Taking small atoms such as Hydrogen and pushing them together to build larger atoms. In theory, fusion produces more energy than fission in a mass-energy ratio. Sadly, Nuclear Fusion is much more difficult than Nuclear Fission. The World Nuclear Association explains the difficulty of fusion by saying that…

What is a family? The meaning of family has changed throughout history. It means something different to many people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau: “A family includes a householder and one or more people living in the same household who are related to the householder by birth, marriage, or adoption. All people in a household who are related to the householder are regarded as members of his or her family. A family household may contain people not related to the householder, but those people are not included as part of the householder’s family. Thus, the number of family households is equal to the number of families, but family households may include more members than do families. Not all households contain families since a household may comprise a group of unrelated people or one person living alone” (Bronson). Society has undergone dramatic social, demographic, and economic changes in this century that have deeply affected youth and their families. Years ago, families went out together, ate all of their meals together, and generally bonded through most everything that they did. Families are supposed to be a source of love, protection, and identity for their members. They are supposed to be the backbone of communities. Today, the role of family is much less meaningful. Families spend little time together, family dinners are rare, and the bonding ways of families in the past seem almost nonexistent. What used to be healthy family life has practically been eroded down to nothing. The role of family is deteriorating over time. There are many possible causes of this. I believe that a few of these causes have contributed to this deterioration more so than others.…

We all know that energy on earth is running out, but what if we could use stars? Stars contain so much energy, if we could harvest it, we would never run out of energy. Energy from stars could be the energy source we are looking for. Energy is something we probably take for granted, we use so much of it everyday, and our current energy source, fossil fuels, releases gases into the environment, but with energy from stars, it could be a fresh start for our energy sources and our environment.…
