After conducting a few surveys and collecting feedback, there are a few modifications that need to be made. One of the things that the feedback stated repeatedly is that the price of $100 is too much for this product. This can be fixed by lowering the cost gradually to $50. Those providing feedback also expressed concern that this product could be used to avoid going to the doctor or seeking other medical advice from those who are qualified. One thing that could help is having this device connecting online to network and alerting a doctor or hospital depending on the readout. A future addition that should be added based upon feedback would be a voice readout of the information collected. Also needed is a way to save that information to a computer so a doctor is able to review and compare the information to the current stats. These additions could help people to receive the medical care that they…
Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder characterised by recurring seizures. Different types of epilepsy have different causes. Accurate estimates of incidence and prevalence are difficult to achieve because identifying people who may have epilepsy is difficult. Epilepsy has been estimated to affect between 362,000 and 415,000 people in England. In addition, there will be further individuals, estimated to be 5–30%, so amounting to up to another 124,500 people, who have been diagnosed with epilepsy, but in whom the diagnosis is incorrect. (NICE CG)…

As we were collecting information about eVox system and its working methodologies. We found eVox system unique and one of its own kind of Decision support system created for Health Care Professional by utilizing data mining techniques. The system perfectly and the reports generated are really useful for patient’s treatment. Users find it feasible. But creating a perfect system is not as easy as it sounds and these systems are designed to support their users in decision making process. In health care industry it is really difficult to to create near to perfect system and the main reason of this is every human body has exclusive system. It means every body reacts differently while treatments for example some responds faster some responds slower,…

Dynamic systems behave in an apparently unpredictable and chaotic fashion, making predictions of future behavior impossible unless the rules governing chaotic systems are understood. Health can be argued to be a dynamic system.…

There are many high-priority health issues otherwise known as Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) selected by the Healthy People initiative to improve the health of all Americans (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services [DHHS] (2017a). These LHIs encompass every aspect of a person’s life from pre-conception through old age along with actions that can be taken to help the Healthy People initiative attain their set goals. The public health topic that I have chosen to discuss is substance abuse in the perinatal period. This interest falls under the Maternal, Infant, and Child Health (MICH) topic, specifically MICH-11.4 Increase abstinence from alcohol, cigarettes, and illicit drugs among pregnant women which also corresponds with MICH-8.1 Reduce low birth weight (LBW) and…
The main attribute in the incorporation of genomics into medical care is the fact that it is completely personalized patient care. Individualized care is what is best for the patient, because interventions will be based on evidence that comes from the patients own DNA. Genetic counseling is also important in patient care, because the patient must know what to expect; included would be emotional support and counseling on possible lifestyle changes they may need to make (depending on results of tests). Once the results of genetic tests are identified, it is up to the healthcare team to help the client consider and apply necessary interventions (i.e. lifestyle changes). The Personalized Health Care Initiative, instituted by the U.S.…

Electronic Health Records (also known as EHR’s) are the portions of a patient’s medical records that are stored in a computer system as well as the functional benefits derived from having an electronic health record. They are also called or known as electronic medical records, and electronic charts (Gartee, P. 311) EHR’s were first invented nearly 50 years ago. Since being invented, EHR’s have made entering and seeking medical information easier and faster for both doctors and nurses.…
