Biomass circulating fluidized bed boiler design
Biomass circulating fluidized bed boiler design

A biomass fired CFB boiler is a kind of boiler taking advantage of CFBC combustion technology, which can burn all kinds of biomass fuels, for example, our CFB biomass boiler can burn wood, rice husk, bagasse, straws, palm oil kernel, etc.
Biomass circulating fluidized bed boiler design
This biomass circulating fluidized bed boiler is designed on the base of our experience of circulating bed boiler and biomass boiler. Low temperature combustion technology is adopts to have the pre-processed biomass fuel and mineral fuel fired mixedly, it can both lower the operation cost and improve the combustion efficiency and reduce emission density of the pollution gas, such as SO, NO, etc. Especially, it has less effect on the heating surface by the high content of Cl, Sulfur in the biomass fuel, in this way, it has less corrosion and abrasion. Besides, this technology realizes the advantages of energy saving and environmental friendly and making fuel use of the slag, so it gains great society and economic benefit.
Biomass CFB power plant boiler features
The structure of a single drum boiler is horizontal type, “π” type layout.
The suspension furnace equipped with the water-cooled wall and the inlet of separator is water-cooled flue duct.
The use of bell hood that’s easy to replace, low resistance, non-inverted ash.
The separator and the center tube of loopback materials device have applied the technological improvements for low resistance, high separation efficiency.
The use of patented technology and equipped with the independent device of roots blower to save power consumption.
The use of low bed pressure operation.
The use of lower pressure fans, reducing the power consumption of fans.
Optimization of secondary air layout and vents flow to reduce the head of the secondary air pressure of fans.
To improve the fuel crusher and screening system, the coal particle size is line with design requirements.

One of Earth’s oldest energy sources can also be one of the accommodating to our environment. Biomass is any organic or natural substance that is on Earth like wood, crops, agricultural products, landfill gas and biogas, biofuels, animal waste, vegetables, and seaweed. For many years, people have used burned wood to generate their homes and use it to make their food. Biomass gets all its energy from the Sun. All organic substances have stored energy, also known as potential energy, from the Sun. We use biomass to make energy in many different ways. For example there is fermentation, which is the creation of alcohol from a plant but sometimes only taken from the starch. When burning biomass we can convert it from waste-to-energy to make steam…

In many ways, biomass is a new source of power. While wood has always served as a fuel source for fires and ovens and conventional heating methods, biomass energy advancements are a few steps beyond that. Now these biomass fuel products are harvested and mass-produced and used in everything from engines to power plants.…

Boiler engineers can choose between two main types of fluidized-bed boilers—bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) and circulating fluidized bed (CFB). In BFB boilers the velocity of the combustion air is low enough that the fluidized particles remain in the lower furnace; in a CFB unit the velocity is greater and hot particles are circulated through the entire range of the boiler combustion zone. The fuel is in contact with the particles and effective mixing and combustion allows good efficiency and low emissions. Typically 97% to 99% of all burnable carbon in the fuel stream is combusted, even hard-to-burn materials. Boiler thermal efficiencies can be as high as 87% or more. Although both BFB and CFB systems are effective with biofuels, CFB is especially suitable for large boiler load ranges.…

During fluidized bed combustion potassium and calcium from biomass ash can react with quartz (SiO2) from the bed sand already at the normal operation temperatures of 700−900 °C, forming a layer of Ca,K-silicate onto the bed particle. The layer becomes thicker in time, and the particle size increases. The layer is sticky, and the bed particles can agglomerate together increasing the bed particle size further. During unsteady operation of the boiler, or on an occasional excursion to high temperature, the whole bed can sinter. The bed agglomeration can be controlled by keeping the bed alkali contents low enough by regularly discharging the bed ash and feeding fresh sand into the bed. The chemistry of fuel ash - bed sand interactions is however complicated. It is usually useful to minimize the quartz contents in the make-up sand. The ash melting point temperatures of woody fuel ashes vary in a wide range. The wide range correlates with variations in ash composition. In general, the higher the fuel alkali and chlorine contents, the lower are the sintering and initial deformation temperatures. Wood ash starts to form agglomerates and to sinter between 900 ºC and 1000 ºC in combustion conditions. Coal and peat ashes are usually trouble free at these temperatures, even if the melting point temperatures are in the same range with biomass fuels. Coal or peat is co-fired with biomass in many multi-fuel fired boilers. The woody biomass ashes are in general much more reactive than the ashes of fossil fuels. Lower reactivity of coal and peat ashes is connected to a composition with mainly quartz and various silicate-based minerals, like aluminium silicates, calcium silicates and alkali silicates, and iron oxides. Calcium and al kali in these minerals are not in free, reactive form like they are in biomass ashes. Accordingly they are quite inert at the conditions of fluidized bed combustion. Even though combustion of woody biomass fuels is more challenging compared to coal…
