As I entered ninth grade just last fall, I told myself that I would never enjoy the biology course that I was taking. Ironically, I hope to pursue biomedical engineering, which represents the perfect balance in my pursuit for success. My hunger for success and passion for science collide through this region of science. Biomedical engineering allows for innovation in the technological field that fuels improvements in curing illnesses and maintaining our overall health. Furthermore, as a biomedical engineer, I can unleash my inner creativity to improve other people’s quality of life. Unlike a doctor who solely uses the technology that our society developed, a biomedical engineer creates with the intention to improve the world. If allotted the experience to critically analyze a medical field like cancer, which plays a prominent role in the biomedical engineering field, I would begin my journey to contributing to the medical industry, to understanding the complexity of cancer, and improving the tremendously essential aspect of humankind that is …show more content…
I always enjoyed the class until our teacher had to leave due to health complications. Our new teacher taught biology in the most disorganized fashion, and she expressed contempt for my inability to sit still in her class. My passion for biology was undermined by my in-class experience and led me to take matters into my own hands. Through watching crash-course videos, joining my school's engineering club, and keeping a positive mindset, I have been able to pursue my interests in the biology field. However, I still desire to further my experience in the biomedical engineering field because I have never been presented with such an opportunity. Once I turn sixteen, I plan to apply for an internship at a biomedical research facility. Additionally, I plan to apply my biology knowledge by possibly taking the SAT subject test on biology. Unfortunately, I believe that it is necessary for me to receive further instruction in an advanced course before doing so. In short, I plan to apply my zest for biology by continuing to explore the
