An infection is when bacteria, fungi or any other organisms enter the body, and cause infection by multiplying, producing toxins and invading and damaging cells. When a person is infected, they may become ill, but an infection does not always lead to illness. There are three types of reservoirs of infection for human diseases; these include human reservoirs, animal reservoirs and non-living reservoirs.
Human reservoirs are people that are infected with disease and may pass their infection on to other people by transmitting their pathogens, spreading the disease.
