Learning Team - Wireless Technologies Proposal
Party Plate’s for many years now has supplied all of our customers’ needs when it comes to part supplies and themes for almost any occasion. However, technology in the 20th century has taken off with even more technological advancements on the horizon. The technology presently used in Party Plates is obsolete; and implementations of wireless technology to Party Plates infrastructure will not only up-date our current systems, it will also support Party Plates well into the future.
This proposal will cover the recommended wireless technologies, and the pros and cons of implementing such technology; along with providing rational and risk assessment for deciding to use wireless technology in Party Plates infrastructure. In addition to this proposal, a spreadsheet is also included, covering the financial analysis of implementing the recommended wireless technologies to Party Plates.
The wireless technologies proposed by learning team A, deemed suitable in meeting the present and future needs of Party Plates are iPhones, iPads, wireless routers, and wireless surveillance equipment. Our team firmly believes that proper implementation of these wireless technologies will help rectify Party Plates technological issues. However, with these recommendations there are always positives and negatives to implementing new technology to a business. The pros will be covered first then secondly the cons. The pros are: * Accurate, real-time information * Field sales having accurate, latest product availability information * Field sales having the latest pricing information, sales presentations or customer/competitor intelligence * Field service technicians able to access correct or real-time information on a customer’s equipment, problem, or account * Delivery personnel accessing real-time routing and customer information * Warehouse employees accessing information on stock levels, ordering rates and stock locations * Manufacturing workers accessing information showing build schedules, automation performance, and material levels
All of these are the pros of implementing wireless technologies in Party Plates derived from the brilliant minds of HP invent (Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P., 2006). The cons of implementing wireless technologies to Party Plates are as follows: * Security-data and personal information shared over wireless networks is susceptible to attack and theft by hackers * Installation- wireless networks set-up incorrectly result in loss of signal and interference e.g. dead zones * Coverage- inconsistent coverage is one of the drawbacks of wireless technologies because some areas do not receive radio signals * Transmission-wireless networks possess phenomenal speed; however, compared to wired networks they are still with a doubt much slower in their transmission speed
These are the main cons encountered when attempting to implement wireless technologies to any business (Williams, 1999-2013). The benefits of implementing wireless technologies to Party Plates far out way the risks of implementing such technology.
Wireless technology can really help stream line our business as well as customer satisfaction. The use of smartphones on your employees so customers can check out as soon as they are done and they do not have to wait in line at a register. GPS monitoring will help us know where our orders are and we are going to be able to track them, so we will know when our shipments will be delivered. Wi-Fi will save us money with our smartphones, as well as make your customers happy if there device needs Wi-Fi. The problems with some of the wireless technology are going to be the startup costs that are associated with it. We will also have to make sure employees are not walking off with the smartphones.

1. What can you tell him about the wireless standards that might convince him that now is the time to adopt wireless technology? The differences between wireless and wired technologies were discussed. Most of the time such a discussion came down to an enumeration of the advantages and the disadvantages related to each technology. Wireless communication network has numerous advantages, not least the mobility of the devices within the network. It is a simple matter to relocate a communicating device, and no additional cost of rewiring and excessive downtime is associated with such a move. It is also a simple matter to add in a communication device to the network or remove one from the network without any disruption to the remainder of the system. Other than the initial outlay on setting up a wireless network, the cost of running and maintaining it is minimal. These factors show the appeal of wireless technology for the home and office environment. Wireless technology is certainly able to improve our life quality. Especially since wireless communication systems are becoming cheaper, easier to implement and smaller every day, so more and more devices can profit from it. Wireless solutions…

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) was established to protect consumers from the increasingly intrusive methods employed by telemarketers. Information technology advances such as auto-dialers, predictive dialers, and automated faxes made it easier to reach large numbers of businesses and households in a relatively short time. These methods were not only highly annoying to consumers, but through the use of these devices, telemarketing companies were also passing some of the cost of marketing onto the consumer. Consumers on the receiving end of numerous calls from various companies throughout the day were spending time that could have been spent in other activities and were rightly frustrated about the loss of their time. In the case of automated faxes, resources such as paper, ink, and even the data connection being used to receive what is essentially junk mail was a cost the consumer had no way to avoid. Fortunately, lawmakers responded to this unethical action of telemarketing companies with the TCPA. Specifically, the law makes it illegal to use auto-dialers and pre-recorded voice messages to make sales calls to emergency phone lines, medical offices, hospital rooms, homes for the elderly, paging services, or cellular phones. It also requires the recipient of pre-recorded telemarketing calls to give prior consent to receive the calls. It also made it illegal to send unsolicited fax messages. The law also gave states their own authority to regulate telemarketing practices. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) enforces the rules set forth in the TCPA. The FCC was also given authority to issue regulations beyond the TCPA in order to continue to protect consumers from abusive telemarketing practices. This provision shows that Congress recognizes that over time changes in information technology may make the TCPA insufficient to meet the task of consumer protection ("EPIC - Telemarketing and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)").…

It is no secret that politics plays a big role when it comes to the introduction of the wireless electricity. Some parties are for it, as it can allow for slightly greener ways of powering devices, new jobs, and easier access. But others are against it, seeing the change as a threat to old ways of doing things, as well as a way for people to access electricity for free. Though wireless transmissions and the idea of wireless electricity have existed for quite some time, the actual possibility of creating usable, accessible wireless electricity is just now starting to become a reality. With wireless electricity looming on the horizon, more and more politicians, civilians, and companies are beginning to stand behind the idea; but that has not always been the case.…

Riordan Enterprises has requested to look into the possibility of adding wireless capabilities to their existing network. The need for wireless is understandable. It enables employees to be productive from anywhere. If they need to travel to a potential customer in Montana, or are at a plastics conference in Hawaii the ability to connect to the Riordan’s intranet is vital. Not only does it allow the employee to continue to stay connected with work, it also allows them to share the intranet and all it has to offer to potential clients, as well as offering those potential clients use of the system for easier ordering and up to date financial and tracking information regarding their purchases. This is why a Virtual Private Network would be a good tool to add to the Riordan tool bag. It will allow the current network to stay intact as well as adding the ability to access the network from anywhere. This adds in the efficiency and productivity of Riordan and its many employees and global locations.…
