Boy bands have had their share of popularity. There was a time when they dominated the airwaves. Girls of all ages went crazy over them.
They sing, dance and rap sometimes. Plus, boy bands are eye candy too. They are indeed a triple threat and a force to be reckoned with.
Here are our favorite black boy bands.
1. Blackstreet – This American R&B group was founded in 1991. Two years later, they released their first single, “Baby Be Mine” as the soundtrack for Chris Rock’s movie, “CB4.”
In 1996, they produced “No Diggity” with Dr. Dre and became a huge success. It was number one in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1998, Blackstreet received a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. …show more content…
Jagged Edge – This mainstream R&B group has numerous hits which are mostly produced by Jermain Dupri. In 1997, they launched their first album, “A Jagged Era,” which went gold. Their second album, “J.E. Heartbreak,” became their breakthrough success and went double platinum.
The group won the Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo and Best R&B/Soul Album, Group, Band or Duo.
3. New Edition – This American R&B group became popular during the 80’s. They enjoyed their fame for years but went on hiatus in 1990 where the members worked on various projects with other group. Some members went on ad launched their solo careers.
In 1996, the group reunited to record their sixth album but during the tour, two members left the group. This led to major problems and eventually the group was forced to cancel their remaining tour. Afterward, there have been numerous reunions that followed. New Edition received numerous Soul Train and American Music Awards.
4. Boyz II Men – This popular American R&B group is known for their acapella and ballad songs. They rose to fame during the 90’s and achieved international success. Their single, “End of the Road,” reached worldwide hit the top of the charts and set a record for having the number one spot in the Billboard Hot 100 for thirteen
