The non-fiction story is based off a series of events that happened on October 3, 1993 in Somalia. The plotline starts when a helicopter raid is ordered with the main goal of Adid's, warlord Mohammed Farah Aidid, two lieutenants from a house in a part of Mogadishu, Somalia in which Aidid had a large number followers. The mission began at 3:00 p.m. was estimated to take no longer than an hour. The plan of the mission was to have the United States helicopters fly into the location, crash onto a building, abduct the men, and then have land vehicles assist for departure. Things were becoming out of control. The men were beginning to panic because they were not prepared for battle like this. All order was lost and the men basically began to do what they felt necessary to survive. They began trying to recuse people from the crash sites. Black Hawk was told to take supplies and retrieve injured Rangers as darkness fell because men would be staying overnight there. After dark shooting declined.
