After doing some research on the many student organizations offered here at The University of Toledo, I've found that the Black Student Union is what that I may be interested in. This organization works to promotes the idea of making sure that there are a variety of events both on and off campus for African American's and those of diversity to enjoy.
The Black Student Union doesn't only come up with ideas but they actually put together events. For instance, during black history month, the BSU highlights things that have happened in African American history. They also bring in guest speakers to help enlighten students on information that they may not have known before. Aside from sports, we are often hesitant to get out and get involved on campus or in the community. However, this assignment has given me a different perspective on that. Yes, you're trying to get use to classes, aware of your professors and how they operate, and adjust to having a roommate. But all at the same time there is a wide variety of other activities and organizations that you could get involved in. But they won't find you! You have to put in work and do some research.
The Black Student Union organization is one that is rather appealing to me. Being an African American, it would be nice to get to know a little more about culture as well as having numerous activities to enlighten it. I plan to being attending these events and investigating how the atmosphere is. If there is great influence, it is definitely something I am considering being a part of. Of course this would require an adjustment to my schedule. Being a part of an extra curricular is more than just showing up to a meeting. You have to be able to balance everything else on your plate all at the same
