It’s naturally, the right thing to do. Now that the lack of diversity in media and tech industry has gained much attention, companies will slowly, but surely try to diversify, but not because it’s the natural thing to do, otherwise this would never be an issue, but for psychological egoism. Physiological Egoism is the theory that one does not do a good deed because of the kindness of their heart, but because they are looking out for their best interest, they’re looking to get something out of the “deal.” Once companies begin to hire, in particular, African Americans, they will begin to get support from the African-American community thus increasing viewership, readership, and currency.
All in all, everyone knows that media and tech industries need to diversify. People of color have so much to offer local TV news, local print newsrooms, advertising and public relations workforce. African Americans and Latino have the intelligence, creativity, and assertiveness to positions as the television and film executive management and to hold positions at Google, Facebook and Twitter. We offer so much to the world and instead of our ideas being taken or going unnoticed, we should be hired to execute all of our wonderful ideas ourselves. Representation
