Introductory Tale That Is Interesting On Its Own
Blackwell: Legacy opens with its protagonist, Rosangela Blackwell, situated on a bridge, clutching an urn in her arms. She is in the process of scattering her aunt's ashes, committing her last remnants of a family to the vastness of the sea. Wadjet Eye never rushes, instead spends the time necessary to skillfully characterize Rosangela, as well as provide reasonable doubt for what will eventually be explained supernaturally. Wadjet Eye's efforts ensure the paranormal reveal feels earned, plausible, and that its impact is raised significantly due to the careful pacing. I am very impressed with how Wadjet Eye characterizes Rosangela as well. One of the first puzzles of Blackwell: Legacy revolves around convincing her apartment building's doorman, who doesn't recognize Rosangela, that she, in fact, does live there. While mechanically this puzzle isn't all that special, it greatly informs us about Rosangela's character; for example, how she is introverted and prefers her own company, as evidenced by her not knowing who here neighbors are. Over the course of Blackwell: Legacy, Rosangela proves to be a likable protagonist that it is easy to identify with and root for, and the budding relationship between her and Joey, is one of Blackwell: Legacy's
