Blake Shelton's Major Accomplishments
Blake Shelton left home just two weeks after his high-school graduation to pursue his singing/songwriting career at the age of seventeen. Ever since he was a young child Blake has had a love for music. His first hit “Austin,” was a big hit for him and it led to lots more throughout his career. Blake Shelton is an influential person because of his successful life, his multiple songs and albums, and his many number one songs and albums.
There has been many things that have happened throughout Blake Shelton’s life. On June 18, 1976, Blake Shelton was born in Ada, Oklahoma. His first major accomplishment was that his first single was one of the most successful debut singles in the history of country music. His first release was also his first number one billboard country hit. The song “Austin,” shot right to the top when it was released. The song spent five weeks in the number one spot, and it also climbed into the top 20 on the Hot 100. “Austin’s” time in the number one spot tied Billy Rae Cyrus’ record for a debut single’s stay at number one. On July 31, 2001 Blake Shelton’s self titled debut album was released. The album peaked at number three on its way to going gold. Shelton’s second album, The Dreamer, was released in 2003. The album’s first single shot to number one and stayed there for three weeks. The Dreamer reached number 2 and became his second consecutive gold album. Blake Shelton picked up two CMA honors in November of 2013. They named him Male Vocalist of the Year and gave his first album, Album of the Year. Bringing Back the Sunshine, quickly followed up Based on a True Story…, in 2014. The album proved to be a hit and reached the top of both the country and pop charts. Shelton also picked up another award for Male Vocalist of the Year that year. Shelton’s third album, Blake Shelton’s Bar & Grill, was released in 2004. This album was his third to bring a number one hit and to be in the top three of the country charts. His fourth studio album, Pure BS, was released in 2007. The album was his fourth straight album to bring him a number one hit.
