Blanco Hall Case Study
Texas State University requires almost every freshman student to live on campus. Every year, Blanco Hall deteriorates and gets dirtier. Yet, this dormitory remains an option for students to lease in the Fall. As a current student who resides in Blanco Hall, I see this building forego physical changes every day. I believe Texas State University should bring attention to Blanco Hall as Blanco Hall does not have clean bathrooms, does not provide suitable living space for 3 roommates, and does not include a lobby spacious enough for the residents to enjoy themselves. Therefore, improvements of the physical structure and cleanliness are necessary for this dorm. Blanco Hall does not have clean bathrooms; hence, improvements of the physical structure and cleanliness are necessary for this dorm. Blanco Hall has kept the same bathrooms since the building first opened over 40 years ago. These bathrooms are the same bathrooms that current students take showers and brush their teeth in daily. I take showers in bathtubs that contain calcium, lime, hard water stains, grime, and other mineral buildup. The sinks that are in the …show more content…
Texas State University claims the title “The Most Beautiful Campus in Texas” when Texas State doesn’t even show off this dorm as a dorm they own. When will Texas State finally consider improving the conditions of Blanco Hall, instead of building new dorms? Why do I have to pay the same price as nicer dorms, yet receive poor quality living? When will the residents well-being and needs be met? Why isn’t Texas State prioritizing the renovation of Blanco Hall? Right now, an uncertainty of when this solution will take place is unsure. But one thing is sure, that Blanco Hall won’t take accountability for these living conditions until either someone gets seriously harmed or the residents constantly put in the same complaints of this

Facts: In June of 1999 Jessica Gonzalez had her husband served with a protective order during divorce proceedings. The protective order stated the husband must stay 100 feet from the estranged wife and 3 young female children. It allowed for preannounced visitations and predetermined weekend custody. On several occasions the husband picked the children up without notice returning them late in the evening. Jessica reported each incident to the Castle Rock Police Department. The officers failed to respond to the calls telling Jessica to wait until the children were returned. The last time the children were taken without notice Jessica went to the police…

In the article “Why We Should Fear University, Inc. Against the corporate taming of the American college.” Fredrik deBOER addresses that corporatism has infected the soul of the American universities. deBOER begins the article by stating that the university he attended to get his Ph D. in, Purdue University, needs more garden space because it is the last wild place left in the campus. He uses the example that reads “Universities operate, every day, more and more like corporations” (par 4) to suggest that you need to have more people teaching and less people working on controlling the campus. deBOER references that even the nice polished buildings represent how it’s been groomed, how it’s not as cultured as it used to be.…

W.M. = It is easy to see the deficits adding up and fewer students in the future. The present method of financing of the school will surely lead to eventually closing the institution. I feel that we have three choices. We could continue on as we are until the school closes, we could make the school coeducational or we could somehow improve the financial and enrollment situation. It is my objective to keep Dana Hall open. What do you think will work?…

RA Virgil was walking down the corridor on the 3rd floor west wing in MU hall towards the west stair corridor when he detected a strong odor of marijuana. As he got closer to the stairs, the odor became stronger and more pronounced. RA Virgil was able to narrow it down to one of two rooms at the end of the hall. RA Virgil then called the RA on duty, Donovan Jackson and informed him of the situation. RA Donovan responded to MU hall and walked down the same hallway and confirmed that there was a odor of marijuana. RA Donovan then called USF Police department and about 10 minutes later two officers from UP responded. They met both RA's in the common area of MU hall and were informed of the situation. Both RA's then walked the officers down the…

Since the Farm Colony’s closing back in 1975, many different ideas were thrown around over what the nearly one hundred acre campus should be turned into. Some Staten Islanders see today’s farm colony as a place of hopeless disrepair, where graffiti artists and vandals can wander in peace (Dunlap 2). On the other hand, some view the abandoned colony as a historical landmark that should not be touched. However, the first demolition began in 1999, when a city councilman persuaded City hall to allow for one of the historical dormitories to be destroyed due to safety hazards. (Dunlap 2) The plan was supposed to continue with the demolition of all of the farm colony buildings, however that changed this past January when a new idea came to fruition.…

The building’s structure, the lack of lighting, and the lack of security leaves the students’ security at risk. When conducting an interview, one of the residents said that while walking alone at night to go to the store there were a group of men sitting at the table outside of the dorm. One of them asked to go with her and she was scared to say no so she said yes, and through walking she found out that he does not go to UNLV but likes to come hang out here with his friends (Lavine). Based on the circumstances, this student could have been met with an even worse fate. With things being missed and no one to catch it at the door then anyone just on the campus, many students may have been in this situation or may find themselves in this situation because of people who shouldn’t be on campus but they are. Because it is so dark in the area where many people such as that man and his friends sit they go unnoticed by security or anyone…

    Beautify School Grounds

A clean and tidy campus offers an appropriate environment for students that attend the school and even guests that are invited to visit our school. During passing periods, so many people walk hurriedly and cautiously, trying to avoid stepping on dirty trash or getting pooped on by countless seagulls that have seized the school. After lunch, I hear so many people complaining about the birds but it never fails to amuse me when I see that it’s those people that do not know how to pick up after themselves. Also, it won’t be so amusing when other schools come to our school to compete for sports, we wouldn’t want them to have a bad image of our school being dirty and criticize what a horrible school we are. We should all help to beautify the school grounds, obvious reason being, that no one likes being in a dirty environment. I mean, who would want to eat lunch near loads of garbage bags, or play sports on a field that smells like rotten eggs?…
