The theme that I have chosen is death. I chose this theme because death plays a part in Andy's life and it plays a part in Henry's life. It affects us all in our lives because people die all the time and people go through hard a time when people die and that's what happens in the book. I will be explaining how death is used in the book from the First World War and during the present day.…

Founding Brothers, whom the author is Joseph Ellis, had six sections that are used to show how the leaders of the Revolutionary Generation reveal their uncertainty about the ability of the new republic to survive and the two issues that threaten the nation, slavery, and the parties’ differences. The book is focused on Aaron Burr, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. On the 14TH June 2012, we watched Blood Brothers, by Willy Russell, at the Phoenix Theatre. The play ‘Blood Brothers’ is set in 1980s Britain; it deals with numerous themes such as fate, the class system, insanity, superstition and division. The genres of the play are drama, tragedy & comedy-to an extent. Something I found particularly interesting was how the genre of comedy became less and less apparent as the play went on, whereas the genre of tragedy- became more and more apparent as the play went on-the opposite. The play was a musical.…

The past few weeks I have been reading the play Blood Brothers written by Willy Russell. It is the story of twin brothers who are separated at birth. Wealthy Mrs Lyons, who is not able to have her own children, blackmails her maid, Mrs Johnstone into giving her one of her new born twins. Mrs Lyons says all Miss Johnston’s other children well benefit, as the Johnston’s have little money. The women agree that it should be their secret and no one else will ever know the truth. The play explores many themes, some being, superstition, friendship and social class. This essay will discuss the changes in the relationship between Edward and Mickey, while also looking at the conveyed themes.…
