Blood is compromise of four main components, Plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Plasma is a yellow mixture of water, protein, and salt that carries blood cells, nutrients, hormones, gases and waste. Red cells contain hemoglobin, a protein that contains iron. Hemoglobin deliver oxygen to all parts of the body, also takes carbon dioxide to the lungs. Platelets are small cells that control the blood. These form clusters to plug holes in the blood vessels and as it in the clotting process when vessels are severely damage. White blood cells are a protection against illness and disease, which puts the patient in good health. These are also known as leukocytes.
