The Blood Donation Camp was hosted by St. John’s Medical Hospital on 18th December, 2012. 5 Doctors and 15 nurses had come to college and set up their hospital requirements in the Auditorium. The donation camp began at 10.30 am when various students had come forward to donate blood. Unfortunately for some, due to reasons like low blood count, blood pressure, recovery from various diseases, etc. they could not do so. Candidates who were not able to donate blood surely went disappointed, but the doctors and nurses from their observation mentioned that the blood test conducted before the blood donation to determine whether the candidate was suitable for donating blood created an awareness amongst the donors of why they weren’t able to donate blood and hence they will take better care of themselves so that they can donate next time and provide what they can. 57 entries consisting of both students and staff members had donated blood that day. It was a grand success as said by the pleasant doctors and nurses present. They were proud to be receiving such a good and vibrant crowd of young students who were so keen on donating the little they could. The teachers gave excellent compliments and encouragement. The student support was marvelous and way more than expected. The Blood Donation Camp winded up at 2.30 pm with cheerful doctors and nurses who were very proud of the crowd they had received.
