Bloomington Clinic Case Summary
Operating its two walk-in clinics in the Bloomington, Illinois, Bloomington Medical Practice provides quality care for the community in Metropolitan areas. The practice was founded ten years ago by two physicians who wanted more free time than their solo practice allowed. Adding three more physicians to the existing, the clinic expanded its number to two. This indicates that profitability as well as growth in business has increased since the beginning of the medical practice. Its strategic planning which centralized patients from the work site and directly from their residence place increases the sustainability of the business providing more patient visits per day. According to the internal analysis of the business, the practice can increase its current patient volume by 50 percent without the need of additional personnel and facilities. In current situation, an estimated patient volume per week is 172 for Downtown clinic and 255 for Midtown clinic. Increasing the volume by 50 percent dramatically increases the patient volume, hence increases profitability. To success this strategic planning, the founders of the clinics (two physicians) should engage the other three physicians (who are also the share the ownership stake) in the decision-making process. Centralizing high patient volume in both the Downtown and Midtown cities, Bloomington clinics will be a highly competitive and successful Medical group practice. Therefore, valuing our patient, motivating and engaging other health professionals in decision-making process, we will provide quality, sustainable and affordable care services to our community. The duration of his tuberculosis treatment was apparently adequate, according to his wife. But no records are available. In addition, the patient had thrombosis of the axially artery treated last year at Hillcrest. He had an embolectomy and has been on Coumadin since. INR is significantly elevated at 16. None the less, because of the cavitary lesions that are seen in the right and left upper lobes, the possibility of tuberculosis has been raised.     They use a spoke wheel model which I had never heard of so I researched it and it is common in business world it’s just never shared. It’s when a team of investors or owners of clinics staff more than 3 clinics in the town or the state. The one team is in charge with staffing, management, marketing, and even financials of their clinics with the help of the owners and top of Wound Care Specialists. This giving the spoke wheel a good thing to expand the company as much as they can per state and cities. The cool thing I learned is the clinics are not all open every day, due to staffing being short in the health care, they spend the day at different clinics each day. Making the travel each day to the different clinics makes it easier on customers and the travel expands the travel of locations to create a wider customer base.
