Blue Jays Persuasive Speech
Do you like the Blue Jays? Well what if I told you that they are going to win the World Series this year? I’m going to tell you about the Blue Jays very good chance at bringing home the beautiful, solid gold World Series trophy. The reasons that the Blue Jays are going to win the world series are: our crazy defense, our stellar lineup and our award candidates.

The first reason why the Blue Jays are going to win the world series is because of our crazy good defense. Firstly, the Blue Jays had 3 Gold Glove nominees last year, which is an award for the best defender at their position. Last year, Russell Martin (catcher), Mark Buehrle (pitcher, currently free agent) and Kevin Pillar (center fielder) were all nominated for Gold Gloves. If they were all nominated as the best at their position in the league, then I think the Blue Jays are in very good hands defensively. As can bee seen, the Blue Jays have made amazing highlight reel defensive plays. Many people last year saw Kevin Pillar climb the wall to rob a player of a home run or maybe they saw Josh Donaldson dive into the stands to catch a ball or maybe people saw Jose Bautista throwing out runners at the plate one by one, but if you didn’t see it, I

Firstly, the Blue Jays scored the most runs in the league. Last year, the Blue Jays lead the league in runs scored and averaged 5.50 runs per game which was the best in the MLB. Obviously if the Blue Jays scored the most runs in the league they have the best offense in the league. Secondly, the Blue Jays had 2 players with 40+ home runs last season. Both Jose Bautista and Josh Donaldson had 40+ home runs last season and Edwin Encarnacion was very close with 39 home runs. That shows that the Blue Jays know how to hit home runs and that is a very good habit for a baseball team. So, not only do the Blue Jays have a good defense, but they have an outstanding offense

If you were to talk to Kansas’ coaches, and say ‘what do you have on the Mountaineers?’ They’d say ‘that’s a good hitting team, those guys can really hit.’ You talk to Canisius’ coaches about the Mountaineers, and they’d say the exact opposite. Now we just have to go figure it out.”…

Forget VORP, WAR, UZR, and the like. I don’t necessarily want the Giants to become a member of the sabermetric orthodoxy. I just want the Giants to think, gee, we’ve finished in the bottom third for runs scored for five straight years. Is that because of the park? Let’s find out. (The answer is no, it’s not the park.) Okay, then what’s going on? Is it a lack of execution on sacrifice bunts and moving runners over? Let’s find out where we stack up to the rest of the league. (The answer is no, the Giants execute bunts and move runners over as well as other teams.) Well, what is it? Let’s get a variety of…

The completion in Major League Baseball has been greatly imbalanced since the strike shortened season of 1994. Competitive balance should exist when there are no clubs chronically weak because of Major League Baseball's structural features. Proper competitive balance will not exist until every well-run club has a regularly recurring reasonable hope of reaching postseason play which is parity. One of the primary reasons for the competitive imbalance that does occur in Major League Baseball is difference in how much revenue teams bring in. Large market teams such as the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets are able to bring in large amounts of revenue. Small market teams such as the Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, and Montreal…

Lately there have been a lot of break-ins and armed robberies in Jimboomba by ‘teenagers’. They’ve been demanding money from store clerks, some with knifes, baseball bats, and anything in between. To be honest I do not find the joy in doing such a thing, I believe that if you work hard enough to earn a living you will feel as if you have done well in this life and honestly I wouldn’t feel good knowing I have someone else’s hard earned money all to myself. I know that some of the crimes committed aren’t so bad, but the teens should be punished to learn from their mistakes, I believe that by doing so it will cause the community to feel safer and engage the government to make Jimboomba a better place to live.…

When looking at the Facebook pages of Stephen Harper, Justin Trudeau, and Tom Muclair, references to the Blue Jays during this successful season were present and widespread. Each of these party leaders official Facebook pages included posts in support of the Blue Jays, highlighting the nationalist ideals associated to the team through the further dissemination of the #ComeTogether slogan to their social media followers situated all across Canada. This theme of nationalism was even further empathized by Stephen Harper as his supportive post stressed “Great to see the whole country #ComeTogether. We are all behind you”. As these political leaders have all produced posts surrounding the Blue Jays’ overall success, as well as the nationalist ideals already associated with the baseball team, the spectacle in modern sport is once again revealed. Through these posts, Harper, Trudeau, and Muclair were aiming to utilize the positive feelings of nationalism and overall fan support associated to the Blue Jays, in hopes that these same positive feelings would be attached to each of their political platforms. Similarly to the manner in which nationalist ideals associated to the Blue Jays were reified by the organization for increased commercial benefit,…
