When scout ran into Bob Ewell he made an uff noise, but that wasn’t from Scout running into him. He made the noise because he stabbed himself with his own knife by accident. “Bob Ewell fell on his knife, He killed himself” (366). Atticus thought Jem did it, but the sheriff, Heck Tate, said Bob Ewell fell on his own knife. When Bob Ewell committed this act of attempted murder he was drunk on whiskey. He planned this act because it was in a secluded spot at a late time of night. Despite the fact he was drunk he could think clearly about what he was going to do. The alcohol pushed him over the edge; he tried to murder kids who did nothing to him. He wanted to do it because he wanted to get back at Atticus the best way he can. If you want to truly hurt someone you would want to hurt the ones he or she loves the most. Heck Tate said Mister Bob Ewell would never face Atticus face to face. Dubose was a druggy that wanted to kick her addiction right out the door and never see it again. A woman at her age trying to kick her addiction is an amazing thing. But when Jem and Scout passed by her house she would always yell at them. She would say to Scout she has to be more of a woman and to stop acting like a boy. She shouldn’t have worn coveralls as her day-to-day wardrobe. Miss. Dubose was a buffoon for thinking she could change Scout by yelling at her. Whenever the children passed the house Scout was scared of the old woman living in the house with the nurse that took care of her. The main reason Miss Dubose was angry and always disgusted with her neighbors was because she was suffering from withdrawal. Withdrawal is when someone suddenly stops taking a certain drug that was taken during a long amount of time. The process of withdrawal includes moodiness and severe pains in the abdominal areas. Miss. Dubose let her anger out on the people walking by her house and making up problems she saw automatically. One time when Jem and Scout passed the house Miss Dubose made fun of Atticus, Jem became aggravated because he loved his father and he didn’t want his father to be disgraced. “Jem and I hated her.
