When they walked across the Edmund Pettus bridge they stood strong, didn’t back down, then the police started using violence to provoke them. After that the people started to join King because they seen what the Government And police department was doing was wrong. The Selma movement was one of the awakenings during the 60’s, it showed most people that the police were using force for nothing, which was a big part of him helping out in the problems during that time. This also helped King in his dreams to be unified because a mixed race of people actually believed in what he did which gave him a political hand as well.
