Descriptive Information of the Main Customer Segment Boeing’s target market is not a wide base and therefore focuses on retaining the customers it already has. Boeing’s main target markets are the airlines throughout the world. Air travel and traffic has seen steady, but small growth. Boeing predicts that this trend will continue to grow by 5% for the next 20 years and therefore will foster the growing need for fast, efficient transport. Its main marketing strategy is to emphasize to its target market that its aircrafts fly faster and longer distances than its industry
competitors. Emerging markets, such as China, are also of high interest to Boeing. It predicts that 68% of its new airplanes will be single-aisle airplanes, characteristic of growth in emerging markets. Twin-aisle airplanes are also expected to see a steady incline, already accounting for 19% of today’s fleet of aircrafts. Boeing will also target this trend to expand into more international markets.
