1. Introduction
According to the subject of Rock blasting and Mine development, we went field visit to the Bogala Graphite mine for have an experience of mining and activities related to it. This is the first underground mine experience for most of us. From this Field visit we had gathered lot of information and experience about underground mining and activities.

1.1 Location
Bogala Graphite mine is located at Arugammana, Kotiyakumbura in Kegalle district. Arugammana is a small village and mine is located in top of a mountain of that village. There are houses of villagers in that mountain and it is full of green.

1.2 Access
We came from the university around 7.00 a.m. Then we travelled to the Awissawella and along the Avissawella-Kegalle road reached the mine by turned off at the Kotiyakumbura town and arrived to the mine which is located in Aruggammana around 9.30 a.m. Everyone in the village will be able to guide to the mine. Road is tarred and in good condition to travel.

2. History of Bogala mine
After arrived to the Bogala mines we went to main office and met the officers of that place. They explained history, structure, production process of mine. We discussed with the Ground manager, mining engineers, Mining supervisor and miners and gathered some information about history of the Bogala mines. They told us incidents and stories related to Bogala mines and useful for get information about how did early miners work under Bogala. 1847 1952 - Start of the Bogala Graphite Mines - New technology
