Book –My Best Friend
Book –my best friend
Charles W. Eliot said “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”

Book is the best friend, a human being can have. Book is a friend that is never disloyal. Books are our friends for life as because they never reject, never go or come, never fight and never blame us. Books make our life easy to lead as they inform us about various ways of leading life. Books are informative as well as instructive. A person is never going to feel alone in the presence of books.
There’re two ways to get educated , one is to learn from experiences and the second one is to learn from books. I am going to give you an example , my mother asks me to remove a kettle of boiling milk from a stove . I can touch the handle of the kettle with bare hand and can burn my hand. If I have read a book on science and so I know that the handle of the kettle is hot. Therefore, I will use a rag to hold the handle, which will save my hand from burning. Now we all can appreciate the significance of acquisition of knowledge from books. Books are the best collection of the experiences of our ancestors, best collections of the facts and figures, help us to understand the nature , our past , our culture and our civilization. We need not have to wait till we get firsthand experience. Taking firsthand experience to gain knowledge is not only time consuming, but painful, also.
Books have many wonders in it and they make a person absorbed in their interesting content. The best example of being a friend of book can be seen while long journeys when a person has nothing to do except to sit and wait for his destination. During my last vacation to Moosorise , we had sixteen hours of journey. I purchased a book on Moral Stories which I finished during this journey. I was so absorbed in the book that I did not realize the length of journey. The most important things is that I learnt the

We get information from reading books. Without them we wouldn’t get any information or learn new words. Without books we wouldn’t know what happened back then or read autobiographies of what was happening during Slavery, Holocaust, WWI, WWII, and many more historical events that occurred long ago. For example, when Montag went to Faber about books and Faber told him how books tell the truth about life and expressions from the writer,…

Books created worlds we’ve never seen, they questioned our philosophical purpose, and they answered it. From manuals to stories, books have been handed down as a collection of knowledge; but for the first time in millennia we’re raising entire generations who have never read a novel, short story or even a poem. David McCullough (2008), author of “The Love of Learning” defines for us the difference between facts and wisdom. Data is irrelevant until we have made the judgment to make it important and learn from it. We cannot memorize facts and call ourselves learned; we must look a layer deeper and find what the facts mean to us. “Learning is acquired mainly from books, and most readily from great books.” (McCullough, 2008, p. 2) Without books we are only being fed data, numbers and words without any true meaning. (McCullough,…

The majority of my life has been smooth-sailing. For most of my life, I was told not to meddle in other people’s affairs and to not think too much about what others say. As a result, I would say that I have faced very little struggles. In the article “Nerd Alert: Reading is Good For Your Health,” the author Jen Christensen describes aspects of reading that may be beneficial towards our emotional and mental health, including how to face those struggles that I never had. Instead, I read books for the sake of reading. Occasionally, I would read a book that would especially resonate with me, and then I would feel that I have reached into the soul of another person, rather than just bland words on a page. Sometimes, I forget that the authors are human beings as well, and they may as well have the same struggles as me. Often times, I wonder about the people behind the books, and how much of themselves they poured into their books. Books, instead of consoling me about my own problems, made me more aware of other people and expand my worldview.…

My Math teacher made a difference on my reading life. He always had good books to lend me. My appreciation for reading increased with many books he suggested. I’m very glad he was in my life to help to develop my reading skills. Although, I had to learn a new language when I moved to United Sates. I still enjoy reading. My favorite books are the fiction books. I still enjoyed the feeling of traveling to different worlds and be part of adventures. If a book has a kingdom, king, historical pieces, new languages, weird people, villains, and a hero, that it will be a book I’ll…

Books are precious pieces that improve one’s knowledge and help define one’s personality by relating themselves to characters within the text. As Vladimir Nabokov said in Good Readers and Good Writers “The reader should identify himself or herself with the hero or heroine.”(Nabokov, 973) I always believed that by reading a book you become one with yourself by somehow feeling all the problems of the characters and become completely absorbed in their world, therefore feeling like you have a purpose as you read.…

Books can even be used by those who are looking for answers in life. Many people report finding the perfect book to answer the burning questions in their minds. Books are more limited: fiction like novels and short stories and non-fiction like memoir, history, biography, self help, and philosophy. Reading books require a larger share of our time. We cannot also do another thing while reading a book. We cannot read a book while washing clothes. Books are more intellectually stimulating and has bigger journey than music.…

Nevertheless, as the old proverb says, “experience is the best teacher”. There are many things books cannot teach us. Books cannot deal with love, feelings, and tastes of food or music tones. Moreover, I think that “the truth comes from practice and experience”. The knowledge from experience helps us as much as those from books. For instance, at old times people thought that Earth was flat, but it was concluded from observations and measurement that we are living on a global planet. People used to believe that God created human, but Darwin proved in wrong through his research. Also, when reading books, readers only need to understand what is written on papers. In contrast, when you practice doing something in real life, you need to concentrate, observe and think much to achieve the desired goal. Furthermore, you may draw a wrong conclusion, and no one can tell you about that, all you can do is compare your result with the real life so that you can realize the mistake. The risk of getting wrong conception is apparent, which makes practicing for experiences the most…
