Situated inside a bowl atop Nazareth ridge north of the Jezreel valley, Nazareth was a relatively isolated village in the time of Jesus with a population less than two hundred. Today Nazareth is home to more than 60,000 Israeli Arabs, and Upper Nazareth is home to thousands more Jewish residents. The city of Nazareth is most famous for it being the birthplace of Jesus Christ (Nazareth-isreal.com). A Byzantine church was built over the place where it is believed that the angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to the virgin Mary. In 1966 the Roman Catholic Church began constructing a new basilica over these remains and today this church is the largest church building in the Middle East (Bibleplaces.com). Nazareth is the not only the place of Jesus Christ birth, but also where he spent his early childhood until early adult life. He left at the age of 30 and tried to return to teach in the synagogue twice after, however he was rejected both times. The locals were so ourages, that the even tried to throw Jesus off of a cliff to his death upon his

Although ice hockey was originated in the early 1800’s, the first Zamboni did not hit the ice until 1949. For well over a century, the sheet of ice was resurfaced by tediously shoveling off the snow and pouring water back over the ice. The technique left the ice in a miserable, almost unskatable state by today’s standards. Not only was it a poor surface to skate on, resurfacing a sheet of ice took nearly over an hour and a half to complete. Frank Zamboni’s invention of the Zamboni not only brought convenience to the rink, it revolutionized the speed of the game.…

The article offers the author's insights regarding the "Book of Revelation," by Saint John the Baptist. The author states that the book interprets a powerful affirmation of the insistence of Dei Verbum that God speaks in sacred scripture through men in human fashion. He mentions that the book is not a pure apocalypse and it seems to create an intertextuality which opens text to multiple interpretations. He relates that the book is a significant…

I really enjoyed “The Revelation” by Anil John; it was a fantastic, fast-paced read that I found perfect for a fruitless summer day. The story begins with a young Indian boy named Dhruv having a fascination with American cinema especially movies of the Extra Terrestrial genre. Dhruv begins having dreams of aliens and visitations which he ultimately then shares with his father. After some convincing, Dhruv persuades his father to go on a length road trip in pursuit of the truth of Alien existence. While out on the road Dhruv’s father travels to many rural towns and takes in the people and customs associated with them. By the end of his journey, Dhruv’s father finds the spiritual enlightenment he was in search of and shares it with his son.…

“Directly across the table, the ugly girl’s eyes were fixed on Mrs. Turpin as if she had some very special reason for disliking her” (O’Connor 455). Flannery O’Connor’s short story “Revelation” presents a self-absorbed woman’s view of the world around her with her own strategies of determining social categories with the aid of a grand deception. Mrs. Turpin and her husband, Claud visit the waiting room of a doctor’s office in hopes of treating Claud’s leg, in which this is the majority of the setting. Evidently, this is also the place where Mrs. Turpin reveals her views and thoughts on the various social divisions of the occupants she encounters in the waiting room. A strong confrontation with God, the reasoning behind the inclusion of the…

The “already/not yet” in Revelation is referring to how Jesus Christ was the first coming and now the age is waiting for the “Parousia” and eternal state to be fulfilled. John dramatizes this part in revelation by using five themes. The five themes included “Christians rule Now but not on earth”, “The great tribulation has begun but not complete”, “The antichrist has arrived but is not yet fully revealed”, “The fall of Jerusalem is the backdrop for the future fall of Rome”, and “Satan has been defeated, but not yet banished”. These five themes focused on specific parts of the second coming of Jesus Christ. We are still is the “already/ not yet” phase of…
