I found this book to be very well thought out and well written that explains basic concepts interestingly using examples, statistics, graphs and case studies. It revolves around the basic concepts in economics that is used daily in our lives. The book is written with the students in mind as the language is very student friendly and easy to comprehend. On hearing the name day to day economics one immediately thinks this will not be an interesting book with pages full of serious economic matter. But this is not true. I think that it engages ones attention by the way it is written and compiled. One chapter leads onto another chapter and I was engrossed into the book contrary to what I thought in the beginning. The author has conceptualized every small detail that is needed to be understood while doing economics. The book begins explaining how there is a great intersection of the government and private sector industries. He has also explained how the concepts of non-excludability, non-rivalry and externality define the use of goods and services that make a good or service either a public good or a club good. The chapter also talks about how there have been market failures the government with regard to monopolies of the government.
