Book Summary: The Red Queen
The book the Red Queen is about a girl who lives in an area where the silvers have the power over the reds but Mare finds out she doesn't fit in with these labels. The silvers are described God and goddess like. They have silver blood and powers like some can control metal, fire, and can read others thoughts. The Reds are the lower class. They are human like with red blood. They have no powers and they work. When reds are the age of eighteen and out of work they are conscripted to go to war.

When Mare's best friend loses their job she has to save them from conscription. She meets with a friend who leads her to a girl named Farley. For Mare to save her friend she must give Farley two crowns. Mare is used to stealing so she goes with her gifted sister to work where Gisa, her sister, works as a apprenticed seamstress. She is interrupted when a terrorist attack by the Red Guard strikes. The area is filled of chaos and silvers are hurting reds. Mare finds the face of the leader of the attack and sees Farley. Visas tries to help Mare and attempts to steal from a silver and is punished by the bones in her hand to crushed.

One night when she is being served by the girl who she was serving with at Queenstrial leads her to the meeting of the Scarlet Guard. She is ends up finding out that she in the not only royalty wanting to join. Maven becomes apart of the guard and gives names of those who should be eliminated for the revolution. During training Evangeline challenges Mare in the arena and beats her, A couple of nights before the leaving party Cal helps Mare with her dance moves, Mare find outs Cal will be leading his own legion to war and is hurt by it. Stephan is Marty’s older brother, one summer before Stephan goes off to the Army they buy a red convertible together and travel all over the United States meeting new people and exploring new places. As they get back home the car breaks down and Stephan leaves for two years, during that time Marty fixes the car and is in perfect condition.
