Three foreign policies were considered the birth of American foreign policies. Roosevelt helped create the Roosevelt Corollary; Taft created the Dollar Diplomacy; while Wilson made the Moral Diplomacy. They all have different aspects, but it still leads down to one thing: the involvement in Latin Americas affairs.…
Protecting the nation’s borders from the illegal entry of people, weapons, drugs, and contraband is extremely important to homeland security. The U.S. Border Patrol plays an essential role in securing the border between the United States and Mexico with 90% of their resources defending this one border. The issue of illegal smuggling is not new to the United States-Mexico border, or to law enforcement agencies. The occurrence continues to increase while smugglers adjust to law enforcement tactics. Even after the security efforts of the Bush Administration and the United States Department of Homeland Security, the problem of illegal border crossing activity continues to worsen.…

Border Force primarily operates in airports, seaports and detention centres, overseeing border protection operations such as Operation Sovereign Borders. The controversy over the cancelled Operation Fortitude, even though Abbott reassured the public that Border Force would never stop people randomly on the street, illustrates the fear in the general public over the power Border Force possesses. In Operation Fortitude, officers were supposedly going to stop individuals on the street and ask for identification, with the planned operation appearing to show that Border Force officers have the ability to randomly check identification without reasonable suspicion. The department also appears to be militarised to an extent, with officers possessing military style uniforms and firearms. Officers have the power to conduct surveillance and detain individuals. The fact that the Border Force act also allows whistleblowers in detention centres to be prosecuted, causes Border Force to appear to be an extremely powerful department, with any potential offences committed by them going unreported due to the non disclosure…
I chose Border Patrol Agent Joel Luna as the subject of my discussion. Luna has not been found guilty as of yet of any crime, however, he has been arrested and charged with murder, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and engaging in organized criminal activity (LA Times &, KRGV News, 2015).…
“The Border Patrol State” is an article written by Leslie Marmon Silko, a Native American writer, who also has written another book titled Almanac of the Dead. This article originally appeared “In the Nation” on October 17, 2014. Silko claims that the border patrol agents where racially profiling any white person traveling with a person of color, nuns, women with very long or short hair, and also white men with beards and long hair. I believe her intent of writing this article was to bring awareness to the harsh and injustice that were taking place on the highways that border patrol watched over. Silko expressed her concerns about this situation because she had fell victim to that injustice she was trying to shine a light on.…
On December 5, 2015, at approximately 1345 hours, the Yuma Sector Critical Incident Team (CIT) was notified of a vehicle collision, which involved an unmarked K-9 Border Patrol vehicle K95266 (herein referred to as FED-1) and a civilian vehicle (herein referred to as VEH-1). The collision occurred in the Yuma Border Patrol station’s area of responsibility, near the intersection of east 32nd Street and Windsor Avenue.…

Border patrol is conducted by Minuteman Project formed in 2005 to control the United States borders. The Minuteman Project is a volunteer group of more than 1,000 American civilians, who work in shifts at the U.S.-Mexico border, where they report any illegal crossing activity seen to the U.S. Border patrol. Besides patrolling the border for illegal crossers, members of the Minuteman Project have also been involved with protesting the hiring of illegal immigrants as day laborers, threatening to take photographs of employers of illegal aliens and post them on the…
You make a great point about the Border Patrol being outside DHS and not having enough funding or support. Illegal immigration and Drug trafficking has long been a serious problem in the southern borders. While living in the Southwest I spoken with illegal immigrants paying up to $10,000 to coyote’s to smuggle them into the country. One can only imagine what else these people smuggle into the country. I have been forced to deal with one of the Mexican gangs named, Los Santos Vagos, in southern California and know firsthand the trouble they can try and cause amount innocent US citizens. This gang is known trafficking drugs and people into the United States, but they are very difficult to stop. I comment the Border Patrol for putting their…
Prevention is border checks and oversight over the border to prevent narcotics and smugglers getting into the U.S.. Apprehension is the effort of trying to catch illegal aliens and smugglers. In apprehending these people they take them into custody and then deport them back to the city of origin or charge them with a federal crime of the U.S.. They may also put the criminals in an American prison due to the confiscation of drugs on United States soil. Some major activities of the CBP are traffic checks, traffic observation, city patrol, transportation check, intelligence, and anti smuggling. Oversight of traffic and transportation are important for the CBS is because many smugglers use vehicles to transport either humans or drugs. In these traffic stops the vehicle is thoroughly searched and if nothing is found the car passes through the next checkpoint, but if the CBP finds something the vehicle and the driver are both stopped and the driver is charged. To perform city patrols keep the criminals off the streets. This makes it harder for the smugglers and illegal aliens to move. It also allows the border towns to be more protected and also contraband can be confiscated;…
Imagine you had to choose between becoming a police officer or a border patrol, but you couldn’t choose because both careers call you attention. Police officer because you get to help civilians and protect the community, and border patrol because you help protect the borders and the county near the border. Police officers are also known as police agents and have a couple of more names that are warranted law employee of a police force. The police officers are in charge…
We hire these people to protect us and they have to train more and be a lot better and be more like investigators so this is a plus for everyone because they actually look into things and try to find the root cause of what is actually going on and they have to really be involved in the cartels business which isn't always easy or good for them. The law enforcement is a big role when dealing with the cartels, if we didn't have law enforcement we really would be in danger and our country wouldn’t be ruled that well because then people would easily assassinate people in the government and in higher jobs. The cartels make the demand on illegal drugs decrease because now there are drug dealers from the cartels and so all the money goes to them…
Everyone knows about the problems America is facing with her borders. Even the news reminds people that more and more illegal immigrants have snuck their way into America. Many U.S citizens are outraged by these people sneaking into their country and demand that the border between the United States and Mexico should be more secure, but how secure is secure? Some argue that having the fence finished would fix the issue, but immigrants already have found a way past the fence already. So the question is, what should America do to help secure her borders? Some suggest having a bigger funding for the border patrol, helping Mexican authorities remove major paramilitary gangs, and boosting Mexico’s economy would less the desire to cross over into America.…
