Scientist say that personality disorders can be inherited genetically and also learned socially. While thinking about genetic inheritance some disorders can be passed from parent to child causing a number of different disorders. With a slight change in the chromosomes people can have a lifetime of feeling moody, anxious, out of place, different, antisocial, depressed, suspicious, irritable, manic, etc. Most people will never know that their genetic makeup is slightly off and their disorder with be associated as being relating to a psychological factor or sociocultural factor. Sociocultural factors are learned behaviors such as the way people act in their surroundings. Famous people often act different than the way they were raised because of the subculture that they live in. Observation is the key to seeing the effects of the personality disorder. Psychotherapy is a useful tool for diagnosing and treating borderline personality disorder. Since a person with Borderline Personality Disorder have different feelings about the effects that their moods have on other people, dialectical behavior therapy is a form of psychotherapy can help teach the individual to have mindfulness by changing unhealthy behavior patterns. For people to be more aware of how their thoughts and actions effect the people around them. People can also take medication that can help curb certain symptoms of the disorder which include antipsychotic, antidepressants and mood stabilizers with some of the symptoms being impulsivity and anxiety.
A good friend of mine is involved with behavioral psychotherapy. Reading the books and blogs that he has written can really bring out an enlightened side of yourself that you didn’t know existed. I honestly believe that it is possible to change your own behavior by learning how to think about your decisions and being less impulsive with your decision making. He also prescribes medications but the main focus of his methods is by teaching someone the skills they need to excel in life. It is hard to just take a pill and move through life in a numbed state of mind hoping that this
