Though there were readers that were disappointed about the newspapers printing the photos in the paper, a lot of newspapers felt otherwise. They tried to defend the pictures by writing articles in their paper. One of the papers says that the pictures raise awareness about slumlords and how dangerous fire escapes can be.…
In my opinion it reflects the majority being as it’s the school’s tabloid. I also believe the school has the right to remove pages if they deem the material inappropriate. These articles would not have been in the best interest for the students. The students feel it is freedom of speech, but the administration feels it is unfitting for a school newspaper.…
The article is about how Attorney General Ken Paxton was indicted and how his future looks bleak. The article talks about how Governor Rick Perry was indicted last year and how he came out looking like a hero. The same thing Attorney General Ken Paxton tried to do but it didn't work out so well for him. Rick Perry was Indicted because he vetoed funding for the Public Integrity Unit ,yet people had a different reaction for Rick Perry then for Ken Paxton. Rick Perry was cheered and all Ken Paxton can hear is silence from his supporters. Attorney General Ken Paxton was indicted for three different counts of security frauds last week. If he wanted people to support him, he should've given the supporters something to work with like a defense speech…
On April 15, 2013 I remember hearing from Mr. Ham that the Boston marathon had been bombed at the finish line. The only knowledge I had of this incident before I read about it— was that it was a terrorist attack. After reading this article explaining about the convictions of the two terrorists Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, there isn’t any sort of bias that I can see going on in this topic. Although the author doesn’t have her own argument about the situation, she talks about the dispute between the terrorists and the prosecutors and the jury. The prosecutors and the jury came to the conclusion that Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, were found guilty.…
Beer influenced the transition from hunting and gathering to agricultural based societies because it gave people a keen interest in grain storage. Beer was discovered as gruel, a mixture of water and grain, that was heated. It stimulated a dopaminergic release, causing the people that experienced the flavor to yearn for that rewarding sensation more. Standage noted that people could store a pound of grain a year, which caused the transition away from the savage – minded lifestyle even more appealing (13). Beer is a drink used to relax and celebrate, and seeing that the world functions through the ability to communicate, beer was extremely valuable to the people of the time period. In addition, it is possible that a trade-off of some sort was made possible, as some would convert to beer-making and exchange their craft for meat and berries. In the book, it was said that beer “was truly the defining drink of those first great civilizations,” and these various new abilities brought into play through beer makes this understandable (30). All of these positive and attractive new possibilities are ways that beer influenced the switch from the traditional hunt – and – gather mentality to a more society – oriented lifestyle with agriculture.…
The concern of the case that was showed at the time when the story broke, it appeared to be geared down toward selling the story, and building the story into a racial motivated incident which was believed to be the truth. The news was not completely clear or accurate and the investigative methods were not sufficient in either depth or breadth. The stories promoted the idea that Trayvon was an innocent young child who just happened to be out late that night and George Zimmerman just looked to act as judge, jury and executioner which was sad. The pictures of George Zimmerman seemed to promote prejudice and negative emotions from the audience, because he showed no remorse about what had happened. The prosecutor used bias in the news by deliberately more current pictures of both these individuals during the trial. Many of the news channels across the country seem to deliberate the truth of the story regarding what type of people both Trayvon and George were.…
Editing is, in my opinion, the most important aspect of film. Editing is the aspect that allows a film to guide the thoughts and associations of the spectator. Run Lola Run used a series of cuts and a collage to develop a tempo that makes the audience feel exactly how the director intended. In a way, editing can be a form of emotional manipulation. Abrupt changes in camera position can evoke an emotional response from an audience. Run Lola Run used this method several times.…
Both articles use the same material but have prioritised the two images differently. The Sun uses the image of the girl in large which with the headline shocks the audience and makes them feel sorry for the girl as she looks like a down to earth young woman. It makes you feel sympathy that this horrific event has happened to her and it shows that it could have happened to anyone. The Times uses the image of the house being tapped off with a police van and officer stood outside, with the headline it shows the audience reading that they have the situation under control, and makes you feel safe that they are there if a situation like…
In the early afternoon of April 15th during the 117th Annual Boston Marathon, two bombs were detonated and exploded, killing 3 people and injuring 183 others. The bombs had been placed near the finish line, along Boylston Street. The bombs, which were pressure cooker devices detonated at 2:49 p.m, 13 seconds apart. No warnings had been given, and no one has been arrested or claimed responsibility for the bombing.(Bacon)…
In hat way does the distinctively visual influence your understanding of people and the events within texts?…
I realize that it is opposite of the manner in which this school had begun, but it seems as though we have little choice. We already have a faculty unit that is looking to form a union due to the budget crisis, we should probably consider coming back to them with a better long-term plan in place.…
The very successful, Vicki Abeles, in her documentary, Race to Nowhere, admonishes students, parents, and teachers about the pressures of school. Abeles purpose is to show how much kids are feeling the pressure to be successful in school. She implies an urgent tone to show her audience that this is a real problem that needs to be fixed.…

The major informal groups this study will focus on include: Mayor Rudy Giuliani and other high-level administrators, firemen, policemen, and families of the victims. Although there were others involved, these groups had the most influence on the case. Also, due to the mass amount of death and the inherent comradery that exists amongst policemen and firemen ideally and within this case, it is vital that public administrators strongly consider the emotional impact of all decisions made in a situation of this magnitude.…
Throughout the novel of ‘The running man’ the theme ‘things are not always what they seem’ is a consistent idea in the text. Michael Gerard Bauer’s narrative is a story of the value of perception as characters are constantly being mis-judged. Like Mrs. Mossop, josephs ‘nosey’ neighbour, the ‘dangerous, sick man’ known as Tom Layton and The Running Man who is described as the ‘stuff from nightmares’.…
