The importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical events such as the Boston Tea Party would be to gather all the facts and information on the events leading up to the Boston Tea Party as well as the events that was brought about because of the Boston Tea Party. There are usually two sides to every situation. Gathering all of the facts will be the most important to begin with. Once this has been done then one can think clearer and precisely.
3. Explain the basis of the moral judgments made by Samuel Adams and Thomas Hutchinson.
The moral judgment made by Samuel Adams was that he believed that there should be no taxation without representation. His belief was that the colonist were not represented in Parliament and that they could not be taxed by that body; only the colonial assemblies where the colonists were represented. Thomas Hutchinson was opposed to the Stamp Act of 1765. However he attempted to enforce the tax, believing it was his duty and Parliament had the legal authority to impose it.
