One example was shown in a series of studies in which researchers observed brain activity as people did language tasks. The study showed increased activity in the Broca's area of the brain in both men and women during these tasks as expected by researchers. The Broca's area of the brain is located on the left side of the brain. In the same study, over half the women that were examined had some activity on the left and right sides of their brain. Although different parts of the brain were used to achieve the same task, both men and women did equally well on the test. These tests involved sounding out words.
Another study showed that men and women with similar IQ's had many differences in brain areas involving intelligence. Men had more gray areas than women. Women had more white matter. In men, the gray matter was split between their frontal and parietal lobes. Their white matter was located in the temperal lobes. In women, the gray matter as well as the white matter, was concentrated in the frontal lobes.
Based on the examples from the text, I believe that men's and women's brains are specialized in different ways. Their have been many studies that have shown this to be true. Men's and women's brains showed different activity while doing the same activities involving language. They also reacted differently on intelligence tests. Both men and women did equally well on the tests, they just achieved their results with different ways of arriving at the end product. With results like
