When I was 14 years old, while living with my mother; I developed an autoimmune disorder that went untreated for months. Upon receiving medical treatment; a police investigation was launched over the severe nature of my illness. It was determined that my illness had progressed quickly due to lack of medical attention. After being treated for my illness, I was immediately placed into Child Protective Services and placed with a foster family. After living with a foster family for one year; I was transferred to my maternal grandmother’s
custody in Pontiac, Michigan. This is where I live currently.
After a court hearing, testimony, and medical statements; my mother was arrested and sentenced to an adult correctional facility. The last contact I had with my mother was in the form of a brief phone call in December 2015. This phone call was monitored by my grandmother, Elaine Carr.
