Brannon Narrative
At the beginning of this past summer my family and I decided to go to Branson. While we were there we did Silver Dollar City. We went in after 3 on Sunday and got Monday free because of the deal the park has. On the last day at the park I finally decided that I was going to ride Wildfire; Silver Dollar City’s biggest roller coaster. The reason I finally concluded to ride it was because I did not know the next time that I would get back; I wanted to be able to say I rode it and did not want to regret or always have wished that I would have. As my family and I walked up to ride Wildfire, I had butterflies the whole time. We walked right onto the roller coaster. As we sat down in the seats I clicked in the buckles and pulled my harness down.

Two friends and I climbed out of a car, stretching our legs and gathering our luggage. It was Sunday, and the end of our two day journey from my hometown in Connecticut to The Summit, a high adventure/service Boy Scout camp in West Virginia. The anticipation I had felt during the long trip quickly changed to apprehension and awe as I gazed…

We have to!”, as I pointed to the gigantic blue and grey water slide, my mother's face scrunched up with disgust. For she doesn't like roller coaster nor huge water slides, exactly like this one just yonder. She turned back around and told my brothers and me to put some pep in our step so we can get to the rides, as if she didn't hear a word I just said. As my family moved along, I trudged behind because I knew we weren't going to the enormous water slide. After we went through the park and rode the other little water rides, and roller coasters, and of course the lazy river we decided to call it a day and head home, but since we were on the other half of the park, to walk back we had to pass the huge, terrifying, grey and blue water…

I was sat squished in the back of one of the minivans with Sam, our treats and various forms of entertainment for the long ride sat between us. The drive was long and boring. We slept, played every car ride game possible and watched movies. The 806.2 miles seemed to take everlasting. We stopped for two nights at a hotel and took a day to go to an amusement park. My love for amusement parks was stronger than my urge to return home and after spending the day on roller coaster rides and eating cotton candy, I decided for a brief moment that maybe this trip wouldn't be so bad after…

As we grow older we tend to forget the memories that brought us the most happiness; looking back I would have never thought one of these memories would be the start of a new passion. It all started on my sixth birthday, my parents had brought me to the local motocross track, and this probably was a big mistake on their part. After seeing the dirt bikes flying through the air and the smell of the bikes as they had just been started, I knew this was my passion and desire to become the best motocross racer I could be. Begging for that first motorcycle everyday before my birthday. Finally the big day came, my sixth birthday, most kids would ask for a toy gun or something to play in a sand box. I decided a dirt bike was on my wishful list to mom and dad. I can remember opening up gifts inside, clothes from gram and papa, toys from family friends, and everything but that dirt bike I wanted oh so badly. Finally mom and dads gifts came, I opened them all up but wasn’t getting any hints that I had a marvelous masterpiece of machinery waiting for me somewhere, just somewhere I hoped. My parents tricked me thinking I hadn’t gotten a moms worst nightmare of a gift. But, I can tell you, It didn’t go unnoticed. After I realized opening the wrapping paper was the best thing I got to experience I made my way outside. I stepped off the deck not expecting what I was about to see; there it was, a brand new Yamaha PW 50 with all the amenities a six year old could possibly want. The bike was a pearl white that shined in the sunlight, I can remember looking at the black wheels like they were made of pure gold. The bike was just what I had been dreaming about for many, many nights. Who knew that still today, I would feel the same way receiving a new bike year after year, the experience hasn’t changed I have just learned to appreciate the endless amounts of time, and thousands of dollars my parents…

Five minutes later, we were on our way to Sea World. We laughed and sang until we arrived at the amazing place. I could smell the fresh aromatic scent of the fresh water-park as I stepped out of the car. I heard the birds chirping, a patter and the trees danced with the cool breeze. The first thing I saw, was a huge roller coaster extending over a small building in the sky, that seemed like a mini tower. The water park was colorful and everything was in order.…

"AHHHHHHH!" I screamed as the roller coaster began climbing up the steep hill. In what seemed to be an eternity the rollercoaster made it only halfway to the top. Looking down below at the pool area I saw people which seemed like ants. Click, Click, Click the roller coaster continues to the top.My heart starts beating faster, my hands and whole body starts to shake and sweat; at this point I know what's coming, I didn’t know whether to hold my breath or to breathe deeply; I panic as I look for something nice, steady and strong to hold me and keep me safe from the fall of death.…

While there we also visited my grandpa who lived on a ranch where it rained avocadoes. Gates that had grown green and fluffy moss at the corners opened up. I saw two monster, bright, neon green four wheelers. My heart beating and being the daredevil of my siblings I was jumping with excitement! Once we were all settled two of my older cousins decided to start the four wheelers up. As I heard the engines roar to life my cousins hollered who wanted a ride. The rest of my cousins beat me to the line and I was last. Standing there impatiently waiting and watching as they sped off into the trees and not returning for about twenty minutes each. The anticipation was killing me! While kicking dirt around I heard the engine coming from a distance, Finally my turn! To my luck my cousins were tired and hopped off the motors. My excitement crushed instantly. My dad came to the rescue and told me he would take me. Excitement…

When we finally arrived at Space Mountain, the feeling of doubt started to crowd my mind. Being as I was only 9 years old, I felt uneasy seeing the all black coaster zip down the track as if it were flying. I tried to convince my parents and siblings to just go back to the café and eat ice cream, but I was the only one up for that. My siblings were too preoccupied over the fascination on this ride to even consider my request. The most excited was Kylie, who voluntarily climbed into the seat as Bradley followed after her. I figured that it was too late to turn back now; I climbed into this “metal box…

“Wooooshhhhh!!!” At blast off, California Screamin, took us through twists and turns, with an upside down loop. People were screaming their lungs out when the steel roller coaster soared into the air like a rocket. The terrifying speed made my toes curl and the strong wind pushed my head against the rubber black seat. I cried bloody murder on the coaster as it fell plumb down almost touching the ground. All too soon, it was over. After I got off of the thrill ride, I found my haggard look with disheveled hair through a snapshot picture. This is simply too awful to contemplate.…

Earlier that evening, I had wandered around the hotel, feeling lonely and bored. My roommate and I had planned on visiting the theme parks, but his father, a chaperon, had taken him out for a surprise birthday dinner. So I was left alone to wander. Feeling in the mood to play some video games, I headed out to the arcade with a crisp ten dollar bill. Fifteen minutes later, I walked out, penniless, after quickly finding out that I should never get behind the wheel of a race car. I don't believe I even managed to complete one lap, let alone finish. On the way back, I ran into some friends of mine, who had returned from dinner to get their tickets for the theme parks. Seeing how lonely I was, they invited me to go with them. I agreed, happy to do anything.…

On the sunny, hot summer day in 2010 my best friend George took me on his motorcycle for the very first time. I was not only scared but I was also super excited. Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to be able to one day ride on a motorcycle. I had not only so many thoughts running through my head but I also had tons of feelings running throughout my body. When we were getting ready to go on the bike I was so nervous I couldn’t even do the straps to my helmet. I was so scared to get on the bike and actually get going but this was something I had to do because it was something I’ve always wanted to do. When we first started going I wasn’t quite sure about how I felt about being on the bike. At first I didn’t really like the feeling that nothing was around us to protect us like when you were driving a car. As we started to pick up speed I started to feel more and more comfortable. Then the further and further we began to drive I felt so much more alive. This was a feeling I’ve never felt in my life. I had never felt such a freedom like I did while riding the motorcycle. Riding the motorcycle made me feel so happy once I wasn’t scared beyond belief anymore. While riding it was like everything bad or anything you were worrying about practically disappeared. He took me all over town and I realized that was the best thing I’ve ever done. This was something that could make you feel so good with little effort put forth. As we went all over town we stopped at various places receiving many compliments about the bike. The bike was a Honda Shadow, 745cc liquid-cooled 52 degree…

All my cousins were big fans of roller coaster rides. I never rode a real roller coaster before, so I just watched others get on. Even though I wasn’t riding, I still got the butterflies in my stomach. Then, as everyone came off the ride, I asked if we could go to the Hurricane Harbor, which was the water park. However, my cousins weren’t done. They said they had to ride the Twister with me. So they forced me into the ride. It seemed endless, but it came to a stop. I got off and everything was spinning.…

When I heard my parents talking about going to Disney World I was so excited. It was a long trip down to Florida and I could not sit still, because I was so excited. We finally arrived that evening and decided to stay in a hotel near the theme park. When it was time for bed I could not go to sleep for a long time, because I was so excited about going at Disney world. When I saw the big mirror ball from the entrance, I was amazed. Disney world had a wide variety of rides. There were tons of rides that shocked me. Some of these rides made you feel like you were riding in a jet because of how fast they were. There was even a roller coaster ride in the huge mirror ball. It was a slow ride, but I still liked it because there was air conditioning inside the ball. We spent all day at the park until we had ridden everything. That night Disney World had a firework show. The fireworks seemed like they lasted forever with the amazing colors bursting in the air one right after another. When the firework show finally ended my parents told me that it was…

Each new rotation made me feel more and more confident in the revolving wheel. Every ascent left me over joyed that I had survived what seemed like a death defying fall. As the speed got slower I realized it had been over, though I wished it weren't. Following my family members down the metal steps to the ground, I wanted more. I had faced my fears and I survived. What better idea than to ride it again! Looking around I had felt as though there was so much more to accomplish.…
