Braves Case Study
The Braves have a enormous amount of pitching across all levels in the organization but it leaves the question who will fill the voids of the starting rotation.

Obviously Julio Teheran will be the ace of the staff but that means there are still four other spots available. Could a young prospects emerge out of Spring Training and fill the voids or will pitchers who spilt time between Triple A and the Majors move up in the starting rotation.

Last year Braves pitching was to put it in a nice way not so great. In a recent article the pitching staff was ranked 25 out of 30 teams, which is just awful and can not be happening.

The Braves have plenty of pitching taken but the question is who will fill out the back end of the starting 5.

In my opinion after Julio I think it will be Matt Wisler and newly signed Bud Norris after that Foltynewciz and Manny Banuelos will round out the starting 5. That is when after they both get healthy.

While Buenos is recovering from elbow injuries that plagued him last season.

With two of the starting five questionable for opening day, the Braves could look to turn to recent trade acquisitions such as Sean Newcomb, Chris Ellis or veterans such as Chris Volstad, most well known for being on the Marlins 2003 World Series team.

One of the major things the Braves need to hope for is the starters Earned Run Average, which last year was not very good across the board. The lowest qualified was Teheran. While the rest of the staff was almost one and half runs above Teheran.

If the Braves can figure out the pitching woes and not have any serious injuries, I can see the team making improvements but not a first to last team like they were in the early

Yovani Gallardo is not having a particular successful season as an Oriole with his 5.18 ERA and 5.14 FIP. However, it seemed to me that lately he had been somewhat more successful than he was earlier in this season. This seems to be the case, in August he has had a 3.18 ERA in three starts and he’s improved his ERA from 5.82 in the first half to 4.50 in the second half. Neither of these numbers are particularly good, but the second number is a significant improvement and would be acceptable for a #5 starter. Has Gallardo improved over the first half of the season or is this just good luck?…

The Major league baseball draft is the most important component to a successful season. All throughout the season the owners of each team sends over thirty scouts all across the country to find the best high school and college players. Then they report back to their teams and they make a list of the players with most important to least important. Then the last couple days consist of them picking at every flaw that they can find in the players than adjusting their list accordingly. In chapter two this is the scene that is taking place. Gathered around a large table, all of the scouts for the Oakland A’s are sitting at tables with their neat stacks of paper with all of the information about their favorite prospects. They go around the table telling why each player is worth a first round pick. The General Manager of the Oakland A’s, Billy Beane is in charge of this meeting but sense he wasn’t the one to go around and actually see the players he is mainly just listening and letting the scouts work out the players. There is another man by the name of Paul DePodesta, Billy’s assistant, is also sitting quietly. He is the only one in the room with a laptop on the table in front of him. If there was someone who represented statistics this would be him. The difference between Paul and the rest of the…

Moorpark college has gone upon themselves to take away the fall league for baseball. being that the fall league takes it to the first issue in which kids dreams will be crushed and opportunities will be lost. In her March 12, 2010 blog,Erica Perez stated. ""We tried to build a program that was providing lots of opportunities for students to compete at the Division I level. Unfortunately, there will be fewer opportunities in the future." There is a good chance that there will be ball players thats dreams get crushed just because of this slight change in the program. If a player can not play in the fall it is merely impossible for them to get seen by college coaches mostly but also professional scouts. During the season all of the college coaches have their own season to focus on therefore they use the fall as a time to go out and watch the prospects…
