Breach And Brew Case Summary
Management

Company Organization

Currently Steven Diaz is the only member of the Breach and Brew organization. As he expands his company and begins hiring employees we recommend finding people with experience in the coffee business seeing as he is very inexperienced in this area. We recommend Steven act as the manager of the store and spend his time there running the day-to-day operations. Hiring shift supervisors with some experience in running coffee shops as the lead employee behind the bar to lead the other employees working each shift would be the first hires. We recommend hiring 4-5 shift supervisors to ensure you can always have one in the store at all times. Then finally to fill out the rest of the staff we recommend hiring about 20 baristas/bartenders to serve the customers and make the drinks in order to have 3 working on each shift.

Board of Directors: We do not recommend having a board of directors for Breach and Brew in it’s current state as a single coffee shop. This may be something to look into in the future if the company expands. Having a small board of advisors would be helpful in the infancy of the company as it establishes itself in the Columbia area. This board could be comprised of friends of Steven’s that he trusts for guidance or people with

We recommend that Breach and Brew be incorporated as an Limited Liability Corporation (LLC). An LLC would be most advantageous for Steven because it would separate his personal finances from that of the company and would protect himself if the company were to encounter any possible legal issues. This is a cheap way to form a corporation and has the tax benefits of company income only being taxed once on the owner(s)’s personal tax returns. Initially Steven would be the sole owner of the company but in the future he can sell portions of the company should he bring on any other

In going through some of things regarding buying the business I think Mike should make sure that the coffee shop is up to code. He should talk to officials about required standards, for running a coffee shop, licenses; the different laws for having the shop in Sunnydale, Illinois, all of will be needed and will help to keep the restaurant running properly inside and out. It is also important that he reviews each file for all employees making sure all documents that are needed for hire are there, reading through and seeing the difference in their duties and the performance prior to him buying the shop and respond accordingly and whatever decisions he makes with each one or if hiring new document all that is done to cover himself within the law.…

After carefully analyzing your Coffee Shoppe, I have found several aspects that are considered strengths and weaknesses. Tim’s Coffee Shoppe has already established its presence in the busy downtown area of Sunnydale, Illinois. Your shop is located by a large college and Horvath and Arbanes Station, which are major bus stations. The shops’ location is great because of the steady traffic flow throughout the day and it is accessible from several parts of town. The shop is lacking a few technological updates as well as organization. From my analysis, I concluded that only accepting payments in the form of cash is making you lose some of your potential customers. The shop should accept several forms of payments to better accommodate the customers’ preference and increase revenue. Everything should be done electronic with hardcopies as back up documents. The menu should be revamped as well. The shops’ is spacious all around, however the back rooms are clutter especially in the storage area. If you could clear the clutter, you would have more room for storing supplies. You could buy materials at a larger capacity which would save you some money, since buying in bulk is more cost effective. According to the income statement in your file cabinet, your supplies for the previous year cost you $135,827. As far as management, you have ten employees and the majority of them seem satisfied with their employment there but you can sense the morale is low. One of the hardest challenges employers face is boosting morale. We will need to think of creative ways to approach the employees and their overall opinions about their job. It would be in wise to seek new employees or assign current employees, who are strong in leadership to management positions. If you were to go this route it would be in your best interest to assign one to each shift. Also with reviewing your income…

The case we received was Ed Franklin, a former teacher at public and private schools in Minersville, pled guilty to state criminal charges of sexually molesting several of his former students. One of Franklin's victims was invited to appear at Franklin’s sentencing hearing in order to testify about the impact of the molestation. While the hearing was open to the press and public, the judge ordered the reporters present not to identify any of the sexual assault victims in press accounts of the sentencing. None of the reporters present at the hearing raised any objection to the judge’s order. Despite the order, a reporter for the American Press news syndicate included the victim’s name in coverage of the hearing.…

Billions of people across the globe choose to have a cup of coffee each morning to start the day or as a morning work break but coffee has become more than just a drink. Coffee has become an ingrained part of various cultures and coffee shops can be found in most every city around the world. It is little wonder that coffee ranks among the world’s largest commodity markets second only to oil ("Dangerous Grounds: About the Show", 2013). Given diversity and competition in the market, the small startup company of Custom Coffee & Chocolate will require a clear mission statement, detailed business analysis, and tactical plans that will help it to increase market share within the Seattle community.…
